This is used as a fully submersible pump. We used it to drain our hot tub with a ten foot garden hose. It took about an hour. Do not plug in until you have the pump submerged or you will burn out the motor, it needs water going through the impeller to work. Also, keep the plug and connection to extension cord high and away from the water - only the pump and its black cord (and the hose) should get wet.

Wirks if used correctly.Motor will burn up if not immersed, had to repurchase.It seems they could add a cut off fuse for that case.

I've had a tankless water heater for a number of years. I have been through a couple different utility pumps for descaling. They were just to powerful (1/6 hp) to do the job efficiently.. They would move the vinegar fine, bur after and hour the solution would be quite hot... This pump is perfect. Pushed better volume, does not heat the solution and is whisper quiet...

The pump enabled us to descale our tankless water heaters. Worked great. We used our own vinegar and 5-gallon bucket. It saved on a plumber visit.

We have this in a duck pond to help areate the water with a water fall and non-edivles growing in aquaponjcs tube. It does need to be cleared once a week, but so far it has out lasted FIVE more expensive magnetic pumps in the past THREE years that when we needed to start replacing pumps that failed this year, we bought it several times.

Purchased brand new. But, when I opened the box, the flow control lever was broken. The product came in a package without any cushion. So, not sure if it is the manufacturer's quality issue or Amazon's handling problem.
