The card works very well with the card reader and its USB 3.0 port. Please note that you need a MOLEX connection for this thing to work. The manual states that you need to plug in the internal power connector if you are going to use this to charge devices and if running windows 7 plug in some usb Flash drive and use the speed booster feature.

I installed this on my Asus P9X79 Pro motherboard and was able to attain read/write speeds of 208MBps and 226MBps. I installed on Windows 10 Pro using the supplied install CD (which has the same versions of firmware and drivers as does the online download from the Syba website). This in an improvement over the on-board USB 3.0 ports on that only deliver USB 2.0 Speed and even the front panel USB3.0 connections that connect to the MoBo on a different USB 3.0 controller and aren't as slow as the on-board rear USB 3.0 ports. Most modern USB 3.0 ports will sustain a higher transfer speed but this particular MoBo and many in this generation (circa 2011) may benefit from an aftermarket PCIe USB 3.0 add-on card, like this Syba one.I tested with a 960GB SanDisk Ultra III SSD on an external USB3.0 dock. The dock might be the bottle-neck in this case as the SSD can sustain much higher speeds but I do not have another newer system available to me right now that I can test with. I may update with additional findings if I remember to retest another time - but for now, this is an upgrade for me and I am content with >200MBps speeds as this solves my big problem of not being to connect a Magewell HDMI to USB 3.0 video capture card to a client computer for because all the available USB 3.0 ports could not sustain a fast enough speed and were working like legacy USB 2.0 ports.

I was a little concerned when I bought it because of the negative reviews on this site and others. But, it turns out this is a great little card. I needed it for its internal USB 3.0 connector block, because I need two 3.0 connectors and my motherboard only has one.I am running Windows 8.1 x64 on an Asus Maximus VI Formula motherboard.I plugged the card in and turned the computer on and the card was instantly recognized and the drivers loaded. I did not need to download drivers from anywhere. I did not need to load drivers off the CD that came with it. I did not need to configure anything. It just worked. All my USB devices are recognized and popup instantly after being inserted.I have not performed any performance tests but it feels fast. But, c'mon guys. Most of the time we are talking about little portable USB thumb drives, or a camera or something. I am not saying it is not fast, but if the card was not the fastest of the bunch, who cares. It is compatible, fast, and easy to use all for around $20.I recommend this card

I like that it is easy to install and the driver CD comes with it. BUT, I have had to install the driver then re-install it several more times!! This card seems to just quit working!! I'm not sure if I need to go online and try to find a updated driver or what? I have a driver program that I purchased online that DOES WORK very well, and I used it to install the driver for it, and this driver updating program says the driver I am using for this is the most updated driver for it, online!! So I have had some trouble with it continuing to work, not sure why, but I am sure I will figure it out!! The INTERNAL 3.0 USB port is the place I have the most problems with it!! The 3 externals have always worked fine though!! This is a easy way to update a older computer that don't have the new USB 3.0, because eventually most of the USB attachments available are all gonna be USB 3.0!!! SOON!!!

This little gem of an adapter card worked seamlessly right out of the box. The drivers on the mini-CD in the box were surprisingly more current than those posted on the SYBA web site - by many months. I installed the adapter, which now gives me 2 USB 3 headers (one on my ASUS P8Z77V Premium MOBO and the other on this card). I attached an ATECH Pro 37U USB 3 media reader, which has a 19 pin cable on it to this adapter card. I checked with Station Drivers to ensure that I have the latest drivers and in fact the CD was correct and up-to-date.Note that I have all of the latest Windows 8 drivers installed on my system. I rebooted my machine expecting to be prompted to install drivers for the adapter from the CD. Nothing. I checked Device Manager and no yellow diamonds ... no error indicators. I plugged a Patriot USB 3 flash drive into the 2 ports on the card. It was immediately recognized and all of the files on it displayed. I HAD TO DO NOTHING - i.e. I did not install ANY drivers on Windows 8. Remarkable! My media reader (1 USB 3 port), my case (Cooler Master Storm Enforcer with 2 USB 3 ports), the SYBA card (2 USB 3 ports), and the USB 3 hub on my ASUS P248Q (4 ports). When everything seems to be working - out of the box and without error, I'm not going to mess with any drivers. Just savor the moment.SYBA... update your web site with the latest drivers and do us all a favor: post the date when you put the drivers on the site and state the version, release, and modification levels of the code..... PLEASE! I don't like chasing chipset manufacturers, Microsoft, et al. to ensure I'm current with my drivers. For that reason: 4 stars... not a perfect 5.

Seems to be working fine, though it was just installed a few minutes ago! I almost didn't order this one based off of the 1 star review by "Paul" because I have the same motherboard as he and I was worried I would suffer a similar fate. Not so.I will say this: the mini disc that comes with the card didn't install the driver correctly. So I went to Syba's website for the driver and Windows finally gave me the green check mark (I'm also running Windows 7 x64). I plugged in my 3.0 extension and then a 3.0 flash drive and transferred a 100MB file. Done in a flash with barely a chance for the transfer file window to pop up.However, I cannot comment on the complete functionality as I have not yet used the internal 3.0 header, which is the main reason I got this card. My motherboard only has 1 USB 3.0 header, and it is currently used for my Corsair Carbide 300R front panel (which works beautifully as well). I will use the second header for a memory card reader with a 3.0 on the front, as soon as it gets delivered! I'll try to follow up on this review after I've tested out the card for awhile. Why I chose this card over the many now available:- It has a 3.0 internal 19 pin header, not an internal 3.0 hub.- It's printed on a black circuit board, so it matches my mobo and case and everything else ("black" is my theme)- It's slim and small- The price is very decentWhat would make it better:- Using a SATA power connection instead of the LP4... or at least including a cheap adapter- Including a better driver in the box??Overall, totally satisfied with this purchase so far, but time will tell (and then I'll tell you).UPDATE: 8 months later, no complaints with this product. I've purchased a second card for use in another build and it also worked flawlessly. Here's a tip for easy access to the latest driver (from the included instructions): visit www [dot] drivers [hyphen] download [dot] com, in the Drivers Search section, enter this Download Code: DL-0313102. Unzip and install, then do a restart. Enjoy!
