This was easy to install. Mounts securely on the receiver and hold the shells firmly. The hole to hole was a little closer, so putting it over the screw that uses the nut was tighter than it should of been. It did fit though.

The item was exactly as described. I installed it on my Mossberg 500 in a very short time. The installation instructions could have been a bit clearer in one step, but no worries, it ended up fine.

Mossberg Mav88 - needed a hi-quality side saddle, what a task! Literally considered about a dozen from all makes, shapes, capacity, material...Had the top 5 sent to me and mostly returned because they either did not properly fit or in most cases shells fell out during movement, operation, firing, etc. NOT really the situation you want when presenting a shotgun - shells falling out, taking your line-of-sight off the target and looking on the ground for shells that may save your life OR worst case shells falling out and you slip/fall on them. This model has the preferred back-up load of 6 shells, holds them snug. No problems, no drama!JUST RIGHT. Easily mounts, I use a drop of blue thread locker on both ends. One important note: ALL the carriers I tried including this one completely cover the serial number. Best advise is to fine someone with a steady hand and engrave it on another area on the weapon for reference.

I fit this side saddle on my Mossberg 500. It fit good. I did have to cut/ grind away some material to show the serial number of the gun that the side saddle plate blocks. It came out good. The larger screw doesn’t seem to fit at first where the trigger pin goes but you have to thread it in and screw it in. Just make sure you don’t cross thread the bolt. Make sure you don’t cross thread any of the bolts. Just use finesse on the screws. Don’t gorilla them. I also used alittle dab of lock tight on them. Some reviews say it doesn’t work with the stock forend but that wasn’t a problem for me because I run a hogue for-end and a hogue 12” lop stock. The shells fit nice and snug in the holders. I’m pretty impressed with the side saddle.

I purchased this product and attached it to my Mossberg 590. Important to know, if you follow the directions, it may or may not fit just right. The two anchor points are the trigger pin and the small screw inside the chamber. Both have to be replaced by the parts provided. However, the replacement for the trigger pin does not punch through. It actually has to be screwed in and you have to really clamp the base plate of the shell holder to the side of the gun for the screw to bite the threads of the plate and pull it in. The small screw in the chamber is replaced with a longer one that bites into the other end of the plate. You gotta clamp it tight as well. The small nut and washer were left over as they would not fit. The replacement screw wasn't long enough. There is a nipple on the shell holder that lines up where the little screw protrudes through. You have to cut it off in order for the holder and the plate to be flush. In the end it does work and its clean looking. The upper rear corner of the holder does flare up next to the weapon safety switch since the gun is curved there. Installation wasn't as clear as the instructions suggest, so you may need to improvise a little. Not bad for the money though.

Pro: robust polymer perfectly sized shell caddy with 65 good screwsCons: MANY#1 it would mount on my 500 cattywampus and ugly, that is if I could have mounted it according to the instructions with the hardware provided, but I couldn't, because#3 the mount screws are unusable garbage a) the supplied screw you're supposed to replace the original one inside the receiver is made of cheap metal and the head strips very easily. b) the long screw that replaced the trigger group pin goes through the trigger is supposed to get a nut on the other side, except you can't thread the nut on the screw, even with the screw out again.#4 I gave up trying to put the nut on after a half hour of trying different things such as gluing the nut to my finger with super glue.#5 so when I took the long screw out, the short screw in the front that was supposedly threaded through the receiver into the caddy plat, immediately came loos without unscrewing. So I used double stick 3m tape to try taping it onto the receiver and after it cures I'll load shells in it and take it to the range and test it.#6 if it flies off when I shoot the shotgun, I'll ge4t some screws and screw it to the outside of my folding stock on the other side of the receiver.
