Anyone considering buying these knows that this design is a bad one and to buy one from the GMC or Chevy or who ever else uses these knows how expensive they are. I already bought one from GMC and it fell apart quickly. Not sure I put it on properly so it might be my fault but look on the videos and you will see that most people need to replace them more frequently than makes sense. So since these cost far less I will not be stressed that I have to use another one. I do not open my gate more than 5 or 6 times a week so I am not using my gate frequently. Also the dealer when I said my gate was just dropping down said I needed a piston or something and it would cost a few hundred for the part and installation. I was going to buy one of those external ones that slow the drop but after watching a few more videos of how to put this in I saw that I might not have installed the first one correctly or cleaned out some bits that get stuck. Be careful when closing the gate to make sure there is not something trapped in that gap because that is what I think destroyed my first one. I am hoping it did not bend the slot where this goes on as I saw on one video. I will try to remember to update if this one breaks after a short period.
