The mounts are about 1/2 to long (thick) that goes into the tailgate holes. When mounted the alum. trim sticks out.

I had to shorten these 1/4 inch on the top and 1/2 inch on the bottom of each mount. Not too hard to do, used my grinding wheel on a bench grinder. Not sure why they couldn't make these fit correctly, the panel will nut fit flush if you don't trim them.

Feels like good material, do NOT use the screws supplied. They will break half way. I ended up using some screws I had laying around. Seems like the shaft that goes into tailgate they might be a little to long as when they are all tightened there is a little play.i ended cutting 1/4 inch off each.
