I'm an engineer and understand about stress concentrations and brittle plastics. However, I still broke these during installation. Unfortunately they're the best ones I can find right now, so I plan to buy a few more, but I'll file down the tongues, which currently fit too tightly in the matching grooves. That will prevent them from breaking, but of course, they'll be a bit loose then. I hope to fix that with some all-weather RTV silicone adhesive in the grooves.

This product matched the same color of white as my vinyl post sleeves on my deck railing. It’s easy to install and not flimsy cheap material.
