This is a huge improvement on past incarnations of this device! I am not a flashy drummer. I have always taken pride in my solid and unwavering tempo…this device is my secret weapon. Just about to order another one.

This worked great for a little over a month and the it stopped registering the correct timing. It now displays 3 digits and jumps all over the place. If i play at 60 bpm it shows 326 bpm and will jump to 378 bpm if I accent a hit on my snare. I have tried to adjust it but nothing seems to work.

I rely on this RokTempo to help me hold tempos with my band. As a drummer, being confident of the tempo is paramount. I use a metronome to give me the count off then rely on this unit to hold it at that beat.I use the tempo app on my ipad just to count off songs. Playing to a click track is too limiting for my style. I like to let music breath but need to control rushing or dragging a song. I can nudge the other band members as I am confident of the tempo we rehearsed the song to. Batteries last a very long time. Read the instructions to reset your unit if it starts acting weird. A+ rating!!!!

Drumming for 57 years, timekeeping skills ain't what they used to be for sure. Sat in with band whose drummer was using this - afterward bandmembers complimented me on how steady my time was. Cool! Sold. Bought one the next week. REALLY helpful when arguing with band about steady tempo - if you purchase two they'll sync up, so give one to the biggest tempo complainer to see for himself you can accurately be called "Steady Eddie." Well worth $$ to stop squabbles before they start.

Initial was defective so I returned it for an exchange. My records show I was charge for the replacement when it should have been under warranty. Please check your records and make sure I was only charged for one metronome, not two. Thank you for your time and consideration

I've been using devices like this for a long time. They are a secret weapon to being consistent and being able to lay in the pocket for groove every night. They are not "needed", but they are a great addition for any drummer. Even if you only use them in practice, it will make you better.I have owned/used the Groove Guide and the Tempo Ref previously. The Groove Guide I really liked because you could connect two triggers to the unit. One on the snare for tempo, and one on a trigger pad for counting off tempos was very handy. But it was bulky, required AC power, and another thing hanging off a stand.I tried the Rok Tempo as it looked like a nice unit. I'm impressed. It works well right on the snare rim. Easy to use. One reviewer complained that it was confusing with numbers and codes... All the info it on the Rok Tempo website user manual if needed. But the quickstart guide works for 95% of people. Turn it on, adjust your threshold, and that's it.Nicely done Rok Tempo. I would give it 4 stars for lack of a 2nd trigger input, but for the size, ease of use, and compactness, it still gets a 5 star rating from a long-time user of these sorts of items.

For what this is, I think its a little expensive. However, if you play the drums, I would say its a must have item. I play with a lot of different people, some good, some bad. With this metronome, you don't have to reply on others to keep the timing right on track. It gives instant feedback and is fairly simple to operate. I had to attach mine directly to the drum head to get it to register but its small enough its out of the way. I have wanted something like this for years and tried different items, but this one just works! I'd definitely recommend it. I could also see them coming out with a version 2 that had the option/settings on a separate button instead of everything being on 1 button. Maybe even the options listed on the digital read out so you would know what you are adjusting.

The roktempo does what it says!It counts the BPM you are playing at.It is not a metronome, it just gives you an idea of tempo timingsmy only criticism is that the display is a little small,I`m old and have old eyes,I don`t wear glasses on stage, cos I don`t think they look cool.....but that means it takes a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the smaller numbers on the display10 years ago, I wouldn`t have mentioned it....So, anyway, enough of my personal limitations, if you are looking for a way to keep a gentle eye on your tempo`s, this is the tool for you.It comes with a built in battery, so you don`t have to worry about running a power lead to it,it has an auto off battery saver system, so once I have set the kit up, attached it to my snare drum and turned on, it will only activate when you are playing to conserve the battery.I`ve only had it a few weeks and used it for 5 or 6 shows, so far I`ve been quite impressed, it does fluctuate a little, only 1 or 2 bpm. that might just be me being a bit sh** though and if you are playing a song at say 120bpm, it will display 60, you can dial the sensitivity down to rule out ghost strokes and don`t take any notice if you play a roll! but overall it is handy, especially when the singer is going "it`s too fast, slow down" when he`s hungover / tired / not feeling well and can`t keep up.I`m thinking of putting numbers against the set list just to make sure!
