Product Description

Surge Weed and Feed

Professional-Grade Weed Control

The Andersons Surge Weed and Feed is a professional-grade, four-way herbicide that offers quick control on tough broadleaf weeds. The smaller particle size of Surge Weed and Feed ensures more granules per square inch, resulting in superior coverage and performance. Surge Weed and Feed's 16-0-9 fertilizer analysis contains both quick and slow-release nitrogen sources. This unique combination provides an almost immediate green-up and extended feeding so you can enjoy a thick, deep green, and weed-free lawn all season long.

Surge

Four-Way Herbicide

The combination of four active ingredients in Surge Weed and Feed's formulas allows for quicker and better control of existing weed.

Surge

Kills More Than 250 Broadleaf Weeds

Surge Weed and Feed's four-way formula provides quick control over a broader list of more than 250 weeds, including dandelions, clover, chickweed, plantain and more.

Surge

Superior Cool Season Performance

Surge Weed and Feed offers a superior performance throughout entire growing season, even when applied in cooler temperatures during spring and fall.

Applying Surge Weed and Feed

Spring and fall applications are ideal for the best control. However, Surge Weed and Feed can be applied any time broadleaf weeds are present and actively growing.

A uniform broadcast distribution of Surge Weed and Feed on the treated area is essential. Do not exceed the specified application rate for any area. Do not apply product to bare ground. Do not use this product on dichondra, carpetgrass, creeping bentgrass, or turf containing desirable clovers.

Sequential or follow-up applications may be required for dense infestations of perennial and biennial weeds. Also, adverse environmental conditions prior or after application may reduce the effectiveness. The treatment interval between the first and second applications should be approximately 30 days. Do not exceed the maximum seasonal rate of 348 pounds, per acre per season, excluding spot treatments.

Surge Weed and Feed on Established Turf

Surge Weed and Feed can be effectively used on established turf any time broadleaf weeds are actively growing. See our recommendations below for best results.

  • Mow the turf 1 to 2 days before application.
  • Water the turf thoroughly (>1/2 inch) at least 1 to 2 days before application.
  • Schedule applications in the morning when dew is present. Or, sprinkle or irrigate lightly (<1/4 inch) before application to provide maximum control.
  • Rainfall or irrigation within 24 hours after application may reduce the effectiveness. Do not irrigate or water the turf within 24 hours after application.
surge for newly seeded lawn

Surge Weed and Feed on New Turf

When using Surge Weed and Feed on newly seeded cool season turf, apply only after the third mowing or after the grass seedlings have tilled and have developed an adequate secondary root system. When using Surge Weed and Feed on newly established warm season turf, treatments should be delayed until 3 to 4 weeks after the sodding, sprigging, or plugging operations, and low application rates (1/2 of the listed rate for established turf) are suggested.

I'm very pleased with the effectiveness of this product at reducing weeds in my lawn and it also greens up the grass very nicely! Very happy with the results after only 2 applications and the pricing is affordable for 16k sq-ft coverage!

I used this on st Augustine grass. This turned large parts of my lawn completely brown. Weeds were not killed. I had bright green grass before this. The parts that were not killed are not even fertilized and not dark green. This bag was terrible. I’ve had much better experience with Andersons flagship but this blend was bad for me.

Andersons Surge is a great product. Matter of fact, all Andersons products are great. Let me qualify. I am a certified sports turf grass manager who works in major league baseball on the grounds crew. We use Andersons products on our field every year in addition to several other products. With that said, you can have a lawn that looks great, almost as good as a professional sports field. However, it is a process and can be expensive at times. One application of fertilizer WILL NOT solve your problems. Fertilizer is a year round process. Here is my schedule. I use Andersons pre-emergance with barricade in the Spring. The first application is a little on the heavy side around March, the second application is standard around the second to third week of Aptil, the last application is late May. Depending on where you're located will determine a fourth application. If you're in a warm season area ot transition area, that is all you need. Don't put any other fertilizer down in the summer, unless it is strictly micro nutrients such as iron, maganses, calcium and such. If in a cool season area such as the northern states, one more application may be necessary. In the fall, I use Anderson Surge or Tri-Mec. I put down two standard applications. Once in the early to mid October, the second in late mid to late November. Leave the grass alone at that point. This needs to be done every year to suppress and kill weeds and push a green lawn. After you have most of the weeds under control, you can cut back on the fertilizer application.

My lawn is st Augustine and I had a moderate problem with dollar weed and some other weeds that look like small clover with a little flower and some other weeds. I applied this as directed on the bag. Most of the dollar weeds are gone and most of the clover looking weeds are gone but the clover looking weeds are popping up in new areas. It has been about three weeks since the application. I was hoping this would also prevent weeds but I quest not. I am kind of happy with this product but not totally.
