In "The Baddies" by Julia Donaldson, we are invited into a whimsical world where a mischievous mouse sets out to challenge the meanest forest creatures: a troll, a ghost, and a witch, collectively known as the Baddies. 🌲When news spreads that a young girl has moved into the neighborhood, the Baddies see it as the perfect opportunity to prove who is truly the worst by stealing her prized possession: a blue hanky with white dots. Thus begins a hilarious competition among the Baddies to outdo each other in their attempts to scare the girl and snatch her hanky. 🏡👧🏼👻However, despite their best efforts, the Baddies are thwarted by the girl's unexpected kindness and courage. I chose this book for my granddaughter, aged 5, mainly because her mum (my daughter) requested it. I haven’t read it as my family live in Germany and I’m in the UK. My granddaughter loves stories and, apparently, it went very well.

of all the Donaldson/Scheffler production this seems mostly an equality and diversity tick-boxing exercise, where the story and the text fail to reach previous levels of achievement. As if all of a sudden a black female protagonist was to make up for some past misrepresentation. All the previous ones have offered mostly with animals characters a fair share that kids need to learn about their world and some future pearls of wisdom...this seems a bit forced by the market, albeit its excellent illustrations.

I have most all of Julia Donaldson‘s books most of them with Axel Scheffler I love most all of her books. I am a nanny and share them with all of my children of different ages. I was excited to see if she had written a new one received it. Today was reading it to myself. My 11-year-old granddaughter had her phone. she was near me, put her phone down and start listening to the story. Surprising thing for an 11 year old to do these days. We both really enjoyed the book. It was right up to her standards flowed nice cute story good moral loved it. I will continue to collect her books.

3 year old grandson loved it and was focused on the words being read to him the entire time and zeroed in on the beautiful, colorful pictures. A lot going on in each page. Story was cute and teaches to have manners and not argue or fight with each other. (Baddies were sent packing!) 7 month old was listening too, but fell asleep! Ha! Ha! :)
