These units last about 10 years according to the Basement Watchdog folks (and my plumber). My last one went 12 before I bought this replacement. I originally payed for a backup battery and secondary backup pump, and this unit has those features to hook into my battery and control unit. Within a month the backup pump was going during a local power outage. Very satisfied with Basement Watchdog in general and this unit in particular. And it’s also quieter than the unit it replaced.

What a easy way to have a comfort zone,knowing that this product has both back up pump and battery back up as well. Also very easy to install and replace. Great for any one who likes to save money.

The only strike against it is that it doesn't come with the battery or the battery box, so once you accept that you're buying the most expensive option you realize it's actually double that cost. But it runs like a dream and is so quiet you can be standing next to it when it starts up and not even notice. Well worth the investment!

My old sump pump started to go out and after a lot of research I realized this really is a great value. Everything is already done for you. No cutting pipes. No gluing and measuring and hoping you measured right and hoping you glued everything properly. I literally set it down in the basin and connected it to the pipe going up. That's it. It really was that easy. The instructions for connecting the electrical to the back up battery and the control module are simple and clear. The float switch works perfectly and the pump is very powerful and super quiet. I could have spend about the same amount of money and a lot of time running to the hardware store getting all the parts and t then measuring and cutting everything and then gluing it all and pray I did it right. But this came the next morning and I know it's done right and that piece of mind is worth a lot

Unit was well packaged and protected. The most difficult aspect was cleaning out the muck in the bottom of the well after I removed to old pump. It had been in place for 30yrs. After the removal, all I had to do was cut the existing outlet pipe to the proper length, seat the new combined unit in the bottom, slip on the rubber coupling on the end of the existing outlet drain pipe and on the new unit, attach the backup battery and plug it in. I am not mechanically inclined so it may have taken me a little longer than most but I got it done in 45 minutes. After the cutting of the pipe, only a screw driver is needed. It's so quiet I thought something was wrong but both pumps work like a charm. Great purchase for my peace of mind.

The basement watchdog is an excellent product that is well designed. It was very easy to install with check valves built in and really only one pipe connection. There's an audible alarm and a control panel to tell you what is wrong. There's also a test button to test the battery powered pump. This is an excellent value- so much so that I would have been skeptical if it hadn't been recommended to me by a plumber. I can't say anything about the longevity, because I just installed it, but everything seemed high quality.
