Poor quality. Installed and it broke less than half way through mowing the lawn. The warn OEM part performs better.

When the part came in, I first noticed the metal quality was different from the OEM part because it’s color was off. I installed the part and made three passes around my house before the gear completely stripped out. Don’t waste your money on this product. I should have trusted the other reviews on this product.

Had issues with my L118 steering wheel not catching the gears, preventing me from turning. I looked under the mower and saw this pinion had chunks missing in the center. I bought this and replaced it, however after mowing for an hour, it already did the same thing and had chunks out of the center missing. I bought the repair kit and have not had anymore issues. The steering sector's teeth were significant worn, causing the pinion to wear out. If you just replace one and not the other, you will continue to have issues. If I could do it again, I would also have bought the tire rods to replace as it is kind of a pain in the a** to replace the sector, which requires removing the tire rods.

We replace tie end rods and different driving pieces and we bought this gear as well, this gear within 10 minutes of driving the lawn mower wore away, was cheap. Next time will just spend the money on expensive one at John Deere.
