These are the hooks that the professionals use and now having my own pair, I know why. Besides looking cool, the way these hook the bales and then unhook make the work a considerable amount faster and easier. If you move a lot of hay by the bale, you will notice the difference..

I personally should have gotten one size smaller, but that’s on me. The hooks came as described and just took a little time to get used to because they are about 2” longer than my other pair, but again, that’s on me. The hooks are very well built and I will probably be using them for the rest of my life.

Strong, well built, they move 3 string bales very well, no broken strings and hook in well, but not so well that they're impossible to get out quickly. I recommend 12 in hooks for people about 6 foot with long arms like myself who do a lot of DRAGGING bales. If you do a lot more stacking and prefer to use your hook I would go for 10 or 11 inch hooks, but your ability to drag will be limited with a 10 inch hook (you'll be pretty bent over or holding the bale up while dragging). Honestly, if you can find them and you are built like me I would say 11 inch hooks are perfect. I have tried 12s and 10s. And I prefer the 12s. Anywho, have a good day and hope this helps.

I got these to replace a set of antique hooks I used that disappeared under questionable circumstances. These are the best modern replacements I could find. The handle is a little small for my ham hands, and I will probably remove the leather guard. I also wish I had gotten the longer ones, however I like them so much I may simply get another set. They are actually a little heavier then their antique counterparts which is a slight downside as well, However the way they split the metal to the ends of the handle is superior to the center mounted style that would always wear the skin away from between your fingers.
