When valve is turned off, red ring is 100% visible. When valve is turned on, the green ring advances over red ring. Once completely on, the green ring will cover red ring completely . I think this is an absolute must have for scuba diving. I have recommended to all of my students and friends that I dive with. You immediately know when your air is on or off during buddy checks. It is made very well.
