Make sure you measure the exact size you need for your engine. They make different sizes for the same

This fit perfectly in my 2001 Four Winns Horizon 190 with the common Volvo Penta 5.0 GI.I took off two 5/8" bolts on the thermostat housing, took off the two smaller 3/4" hoses, and the housing came right off. I was able to flip it over with the other hoses still connected, but be careful that your hoses aren't dry rotted as they could crack maybe if you do this. At first, I was expecting a thermostat to be sitting on the engine block, and I thought, dang, someone must have pulled it out already and running it wide open... well, I flipped the housing back and the thermostat was being held in it with the provided o-ring. I removed the o-ring, pulled out the old stat, ran a pick around the grooves a little, cleaned up the old gasket, put the new stat in, seated the new o-ring in the groove, put the new housing gasket on, and bolted back up.Now, my boat runs a perfect 160-170 when idled up. At idle, it runs around 190 and this is partly due to low idle not moving enough water through the engine and exhaust manifolds. I may also have some rust built up inside the cooling ports as well, and I may consider running a rust remover through it? Need to research first.

This was priced right, but after I received it and held it in my hand, I realized that the lightweight & poor build quality was not worth the risk of installing it in my boat engine. I would recommend if you are going to use this thermostat, that you test it in heated water to confirm actual-open temps.

The t-stat fits perfect. Housing was showing 157 deg f at Housing with temp laser, so great regulation. The o-ring is not the correct size as others have stated, I reused my original o-ring. The gasket was great fit. Overall I would buy it again. Maintained great temp both on the muffs and the lake.
