I work on a lot of older properties and vehicles that are a mix mash of odd bolt sizes. For instance when I go to install a new ceiling fan in an old house and the screws that come with the fan inevitably don't fit the old junction box. Being a stickler I always replace those screws. Now I don't have to take the screws to the hardware store to use their thread checker. I know what I need before I ever get to the store. I also have a few old AMC cars. If you've ever worked on a Pacer then you'll know that they're a mix of metric and sae parts and a crazy mix of Ford, Chevy, Chrysler and bubble gum wrapper parts. I already used this thread checker while working on one of them. I like that the numbers are easy to read and the sizes seem accurate. I like the nice color and the hanging hole. I'm not a big fan of the folding part since it only has supporting feet on the ends. When you open it up and lay it down the middle of the checker sags down and yes it pinches you if you're not paying attention. This old lady got bit pretty good when it flopped open harder than I expected it to. Other than that the tool exceeded my expectations and has already saved me time and frustration. When I know what part I need ahead of time I know which store I can go to that will have what I need in stock. That saves me from running around and wasting a lot of time and fuel in the search for some obscure part for my relics. That alone makes this tool worth the asking price to me. It gets a yes from me.

I should have gotten one of these years ago. Currently, I'm building an all-metal shed that came with many screws and nuts and bolts of many sizes. I found that many of the screws became loose when working on installing some of the shed's sides and base. I decided to use nylon lock nuts and bolts instead. I used this thread checker to obtain the actual replacement sizes required. More than 8 different size connectors were necessary. This tool also let me get the size of connectors that I already had to avoid buying too many. It also let me get the appropriate drill size for holes that I needed to make some holes bigger. The price of this unit was higher than I expected but it's hard to put a price on the time and frustration I saved. To me, it's well worth the price.

This standard-metric gauge is an absolute must have for anyone involved in projects, engineering or repair as you will (without fail) have that one bolt or nut that you need more of but just don't have any reference for the thread pattern. This gauge helps you eliminate the unknown so you can confidently know and order the proper bolts and nuts for your project. Highly recommended. Excellent Investment.

It is impressive. Well made and easy to read. It has silicone standoffs on the back so it doesn't move around when you're using it. Ruler on the side, protractor on the top, reasonable price for what you get ($39.99 at time of order) what more could you ask for?Very happy. Definitely recommended.

This thread gauge is amazingly solid and well-constructed. The body is a thick metal plate, and all of the fastener parts are firmly affixed and labeled. The hook makes it easy to hang on the wall, which is where I've put mine, next to my cabinet of fasteners, so I have it for quick reference. Despite it's size, it's hinged in the middle so that you could easily fold it when not in use and store it in a drawer or toolbox. I've gone years without one of these, and now it seems liek I've got to check every fastener I find on this before I put it away...

About 3 times a year I have to drive 15 miles to the hardware store for a replacement bolt or something. This has involved me removing the old one and bringing it with, or losing the old one, guessing at sizes and buying several different sizes in the hope that I don't have to make a return trip. Well, problem solved. This is entirely metal and well made. It folds in half, making it fairly compact. It can also be hung on a wall. Metric and standard are both clearly labeled, so as in my previous example, I can find the size and thread with this and know exactly what box to look in at the hardware store. No more guessing. I know it's not exactly cheap, but it is unique and will surely save you time and trouble if you ever get into a situation like me.

Every time I needed to identify a screw or a nut size I would have to bring the item to a big box store to use their Thread Checker. Not anymore! This is great in the sense that I now can do that at home and know what I need before I buy it. This is nicely machined and in addition to screw and nut sizes will also identify drill bit sizes for you. It has both metric and SAE sizes. This is hinged so it can fold in half for easy storage or transporting it somewhere. If you are always looking for the size of screws or nuts, this is going to make your life easier, as it did for me. This is a welcome addition to my tool bench and I think this is a good value for the price they are charging at the time I am writing this, $29.99. If you are tired of running to a store to find out what size nut or bolt you need, treat yourself to this.

I've wanted one of these for years and finally grabbed one.Works perfect to hang on a wall or folds up to throw in a toolbox or toolbag. Has the most common sizes of bolts and nuts in both metric and imperial, and drill bit sizes and a way to check the drill point angle.Nice and lightweight, but the aluminum is heavy duty and will last for years. The markings/measurements are laser etched and very legible with no worries about them wiping off or wearing away.I think I'll be using this daily and anyone in a shop or handyman position would do well to grab one themselves.
