On a Subaru Ascent, it is a good kayak tie down.

Contrary to the item description, there are x2 loop straps in the package. I purchased x2 because description said only one loop strap. Once packaged arrive I received x2 packs, with x2 straps in each package. Guess I’ll have a back up set now.

Great for my little hatch back. Can bring my canoe anywhere now. Simple setup, straps are super sturdy and last forever. 10/10 would recommend

Most vehicles today have integrated, painted bumpers with limited areas to use front tie downs for kayaks. We do have tow hooks on ours but we didn’t want straps or ropes rubbing against the paint on our SUV hood. These attached on any support bracket with a screw in it underneath the hood to hold the straps. Our screws were plenty long enough but I have read that others are not.BEWARE! Depending on the type of tie down straps you use, they can vibrate these straps. The double straps from our Yakima racks vibrated like crazy even with twisting during a 12 hour long trip with high winds and the back wash from many tractor trailers. We had to change to the thin Thule ropes during the trip to avoid the vibration and even with them had to stop once to adjust them. USE 3M PROTECTIVE BODY TAPE ON BOTH SIDES OF YOUR HOOD AND FENDER WHERE THESE STRAPS COME OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD (It’s the same stuff you would have installed for a clear “bra” on your car hood). It is worth the $12-15 bucks to save potential damage to the paint on a high end vehicle. The 3M tape wrinkled a little on the one side from the horrible vibration from the wind but protected the paint. We removed the tape strips after we came home as we usually haul the kayaks in the pickup truck for local trips. Just remember to watch a video on how to install the tape. It has to be wet along with your fingers to install the tape. I know it sounds strange but you squeegee out the water and it sticks without finger prints on the sticky part of the tape. Gotta love 3M.

I used this last weekend to tie my canoe to my car roof, along with the tow bars on the front and back of the car. They worked great for me.I thought that they were sold as single straps so I bought two. It turns out that there are two in the package.

Easily attached these to the hood bolts on my Toyota Highlander for securing the nose of a 14' SUP strapped to a Thule SUP carrier rack. Setup worked perfectly during an east coast trip from Maine to Florida, and now the straps are flipped back and invisible under the hood. No chafing occurred and the paint finish on the edge of the hood is pristine. Well worth the cost.

I ordered these loop straps to transport my canoe on my Forester. I use ropes to tie down my canoe and the front eye bolts were positioned such that I thought the sharp edge of the bumper would fray the rope. The loop straps were an excellent alternative; they were easy to install and they are easier to access. I have had them over a year and am happy with their functionality; at this time, I can not make any comment about durability in terms of longevity, but structurally, they have held up well.

Serves its purpose and seems durable. I had it installed by store where we purchased our kayaks so it didn't seem to complicated but since I wasn't the one who did it I can't say was it really easy or not. I love that I can hide it under the hood when not in use

Great for shorter kayaks on my F150. I used the bolts on my radiator mounts, and they stick out to the side of the hood far enough to for the Thule label to show. I didn't have a good bolt towards the front of the vehicle to mount it there, just the bolts to hold down the headlights, and I didn't want to put any pressure on them. Before I bought these straps, I had to hook my bow line over the hood/grill, under the air dam, to the frame. This put odd pressure on my air dam, and one time, the line moved to the right and my tire grabbed it, tearing the line. This will not occur with these straps since they mount at hood-level.I said these are good for SHORT kayaks... I have a 18' kayak, and the bow line actually angles back towards the cab since the bow aligns with the front bumper, maybe a little less. This kind of makes the straps useless since it allows for a lot of slack if my boat (for some reason) slides backwards, which is what the bow line is meant to stop from happening. I will need to find another place to mount these for longer boats, somewhere closer to bumper-level, or closer to the nose of my truck.

My wife and I have a 2010 Ford Edge and a very large 2 person kayak. We carry the kayak on the roof of the car and finding good attachment points for the front ropes has been a bit of a challenge.Initially I used to hook ropes into holes under the front of the car. But, then I had to worry about ropes rubbing on the hood and bumper of the car, and angle to the kayak meant that the ropes were pulling forward on the kayak almost as much as they were pulling down. This made me worry about the kayak a bit. These loops fix both problems for me. They bring the attachment point further back towards the load and eliminated the rope rubbing. As a bonus they also raise the attachment point up so you don't have to lay on the ground trying to find the right hole to put a hook into.Installation was easy:- I opened the hood of the car- Located a bolt near the front- Using a socket on my impact driver I removed the bolt- Then I threaded the bolt through the grommet on the strap and re-secured the bolt into place (make sure the loop hangs out towards the tire)- Repeated on the other side and I was doneInstallation took less than five minutes from the time I opened the hood. When I'm not carrying a load on the hood I just fold the straps in under the hood and close it. When I want to use them I just pop the hood and fold the straps out before closing the hood again. Just that easy.Tying down my load is now quicker than before, and I feel more secure in knowing I have a better angle to my load so that the direction of force is going to do more to stabilize the load and less to damage my vehicle.Overall I'm very happy with these straps.

Use for front tie downs for two kayaks on Toyota RAV4. No other real good place to tie front of kayaks to. The towing eye-bolt might have sufficed but is a pain to keep attaching and unbolting, plus I only have one (a second is $$$ strangely enough).Be sure to bolt it to a metal part of the frame under the hood, my vehicle had two bolts conveniently located at the end of some weather stripping. The nylon is strong enough to hold, thin enough to fit through gap in hood, but smooth/soft enough no to damage paint (so far) on hood's edge. The gromet is about the right side to handle any size bolt one would think to attach this with.
