This device works well for holding and insulating tig rods. It works for flat and round stock, and looks like it can handle a fairly large rod, although I only have 3/32 and 1/8 to test it with. I did have some trouble with slippage, which messes up my tig flow a bit. It seemed to be an issue on the smaller round rod I was using. Larger rod and flat strips didn't seem to have an issue.

This has a solid weight and feel so you don't lose feel of it in a gloved hand. Make sure to look under the foam padding if you don't see the spare o-rings.

This thing is not only well built, it comes in a nice tin so you can find it easily! Has a small roller so you can roll more stick out as you weld. Keeps the heat off your hand as it's fairly hefty (and thus more of a heat sink.) Gives a nice firm grip especially in a gloved hand.Will come in handy not just for welding, but for brazing too.

Obviously you don't need one of these, but they do come in handy to be able to handle the filler when you're wearing gloves. It's well built and uses a simple finger wheel to advance the filler. It can be a little tough to feel when wearing gloves, but it still works well. The size is great and it fits nicely in my hand.

I am a novice welder and I still have not gotten the feeding of TIG wire through the fingers. It is like eating with chop sticks and takes practice. I just don’t weld that much so I have not gotten proficient with feeding the TIG rod. This makes it so easy. Slip the rod in the back and roll the wheel to feed the rod. Easy to use and it is small enough to have around in your bag without taking up hardly any room.

This allows me to be more comfortable TIG welding. Being older and learning the art of TIG welding, any advantages to make welding easier are welcome. The pen holds a 3/32" rod just tight enough to allow good control and the wheel is easy to operate to extend the rod without weld hesitation. The O-rings on the feed wheel are replaceable and the pen comes with replacement O-rings. Not sure how well this will work with 1/16" rod.This pen may help making long welds more consistent. Worth considering.

I'm still pretty new to welding, and one thing I haven’t quite mastered yet is feeding TIG wire smoothly through my fingers. Since I don’t weld all that often, I haven’t really had the chance to get the hang of it. This tool makes the whole process so much easier. You just slide the rod in from the back and turn the wheel to feed it. Super simple to use.Overall I would recommend it.
