Bought this Tilly hat for my husband, for sun protection on an upcoming sailing trip we have planned in the Caribbean. Previously seen this hat in a different color at a local sporting store (at full retail cost). So we knew the material would be lightweight, breathable, and also good for rain. The quality is excellent - Tilly, is a trusted brand from the sailing and fishing community who spend hours in the sun.When I first ordered, I mistakenly selected the wrong size (XL). It was an easy return and I had the correct (size L) 2 days later. The size chart is true to size (was my fault for not checking) new hat fits my husband perfectly.The string is great for not losing your hat in windy conditions, but can easily be tied in the back for when you don’t want/need it. Also this is unisex and easily styles for both men and women…. So I expect to borrow it when he’s not looking. 😊

I have always wanted to buy this particular Tilley broad brim hat but bought other brands that were half the price. I initially could not justify the higher price but after years of wearing these styles of hats and learning to appreciate the protection from the UV rays of the intense sunny days we have here in Hawaii, I finally treated myself to a Tilley hat. This style of hat is light weight with venting and has excellent chin straps to secure the hat on windy days. Unlike the cotton hats I bought in the past which were heavier and not as well vented, at the end of the day just wasn’t as comfortable. With time and frequent washing they began to lose their shape and vent hole rings rusted and even began observing the cotton material breaking down with holes. Of course I put these hats through a lot and they served me well, I expect this Tilley hat will continue to protect my head and face from excessive sun exposure but look good too. I wear hats outdoors nowadays all the time now during the day and really like the style and fit of this model Tilley hat. I am encouraged to do so especially since my Dermatologist began removing precancerous tags on my face.

My son loved his dad’s hat so much he wanted one of his own. I bought this for his birthday. My son’s hobby is sailing, I know this hat will provide years of sun protection. My husband’s Tilly hat exactly like this one is at least 10 years old and has held up great. Keeps you dry in the rain and has ties to strap the hat on during high winds. Great quality.

The Tilley hats are water resistant - so I swim with it. They also are cool and vented so I wear them while I go for my exercise walks!! Perfect Hat!! And they are sized PERFECTLY on my head so they don't blow off in our Windy Tradewinds in the Islands!!

Good quality, useful. They are somewhat hot, but will keep the sun off your heads. you need one. We have two.

I had a classic Tilley made of cotton and was skeptical of these new ones. However they seem pretty practical. There's one downside, watch the heat/fire or it will get ruined. Not hard to mess it up when you are around a campfire.

This is my second LTM6 Tilley hat. I had my first one almost 11 years before I somehow managed to loose it on a recent trip. Like loosing touch with an old friend that I shared many adventures with. I hope someone found it continues to use it. My new one seems just as nice as my old one. It seems like it is constructed a little bit differently but made just as well. I hope my new one serves me just as long or longer as my old hat. I'm sure it will function just as well keeping the sun off of my head and keeping me cool. I am disappointed in the packaging for shipping. My new hat was rather carelessly stuffed into a shipping envelope and has a few light creases on the brim that I hope will settle out. If I didn't need it this weekend for an all day outdoor event I'd probably return it. I think if you drop close to $100 on basically a sun hat they could put it in a box. I'm not deducting any stars because it's still a great hat. It was just carelessly packed. The envelope would probably still be fine if they'd have gottenit in flat (it was a large enough envelope). After all, that's how I used to pack my old one. Flatten it out and lay it in the top of my luggage. Worked for 11 years.

Great hat. Relatively cool in the sun, but still can get warm. The vent on top looks good, but only helps a little. The fit is very good. I sent this through the washer and dryer and it still looks great. Tilley recommends air drying it, which I will do from now on, but the dryer did not shrink or damage it. I love that the straps can be configured for different winds (strong, light, in front, behind, etc.). The instructions give guidance on this.This hat is also very packable. It folds up easily and returns to its original shape. Great hat from Tilley.

I play golf in Hawaii where the UV rating is often very high. This hat protects the top, front, back and sides of your head from the rays. It stays on your head even when the trade winds are blowing, thanks to the strap system (back strap for light trades and chin strap when it is blowing harder). The wide front brim also keeps your sun glasses clear when the occasional trade shower moves through.All together a very useful hat and cool and comfortable even when the temperature rises.
