This is a quality, lightweight titanium scoop! As with similar style scoops, it can be used either on a pole, (not included) or by itself using the foam handle. I plan to do both and will make the switch simple by using two quick-release pins where it attaches to the scoop.Titanium is super strong and lightweight so no worries about this thing bending, rusting or breaking. It comes in a kit with several extra screws, two extra foam handles and a couple of tools to assemble it.I didn't realize when I ordered it how much bigger it would be than my steel scoop. It can easily pick up twice the volume of sand while still weighing a few ounces less. (1 pound 11 ounces)Bottom Line: This is a quality scoop for anyone who is serious about their metal detecting, shark tooth collecting or for any beach collecting activity. The larger volume scoop means picking up the target on the first try and the light weight makes for a longer, more enjoyable hunting experience.

I actually don't beachcomb, sorry. I bought this as a sift for dedusting a product we use for sand-blasting in our shop. I use it on walnut shell blasting media. Before reloading the blaster, I take the media outside and pour it from bucket to bucket in an effort to have the wind blow the dust away. Kind of like chaffing wheat, if you get the gist.I ordered this sand scoop to upgrade this process by placing a bag of media in a tub and using this tool to simply scope up and let the media drain back into the tub while the wind carries the dust away. I used it today for the first time and it does a FAR better job. I am very pleasedAs a machine shop owner I can tell you this is an amazingly well made tool. There is absolutely no shortcuts in its production. The titanium appears to be real, the scoop, for it's size, is very light and I can see exactly how this would work well for sifting sand. Our walnut media is similar to a large particle sand and it flows effortlessly through the sifting holes.I am very impressed. If you have the cha-ching...... but it.Highly Recommended.

I've been doing beachcombing at Padre Island National Seashore for a while, and after going through several stainless steel scoops that corroded quickly from sand and saltwater, I decided to try this Titanium Sand Scoop. I've used it most of this season, and I'm impressed. The scoop still looks almost new, with just a few scratch marks and no sign of corrosion. The holes are perfectly sized for sifting through the sand, making it easy to find shells and other treasures without missing anything. Assembly was straightforward, and the scoop feels very sturdy. If you're tired of dealing with rusty gear, this titanium scoop is definitely worth considering.

When approaching items that are at the pinnacle of performance or extravagance, I have one rule: cost is a 0 factor. They aren't items that you buy because they're "value leaders" (this certainly isn't). They aren't items that have adjectives like "thrifty", "economical", and "budget-oriented" in their typical review. How might one describe this titanium sand sifter? High caliber. Beautifully crafted. The ultimate, in its field. Are just a few ways to describe it. Let's look at some details. All the holes are perfectly cut hexagons. The overall build and finish, including all the edge work, was perfect. The holes for the handle lined up perfectly, and it is reverseable, depending on your preference. The include extras of EVERYTHING: extra tools, extra screws, washers, foam handle protectors, gaskets for the stash container, everything! And speaking of stash container, the cap for the handle unscrews and there is a water tight compartment that you can put treasure in! Provided it's not very big, that is. I have a few other sand sifters. That is a feature NONE of them have, save for this one, and I think it's really a nice touch. In short, this is nice enough that I'm now ready to toss my other sifters in the trash. They can't compete. Period. In case you're wondering, will titanium set off my metal detector or pinpointer, yes, it will, it's not invisible to your detector OR pinpointer, unfortunately. It's titanium, but it does not work magic. To summarize it...if you're into metal detecting, or treasure hunting, or searching for particular relics on the beach (sea shells, ect), and you want the best sand sifter you can get...this is it. There is none better. And the other treasure hunters will look upon your sifter in awe, while you just smile. Don't be surprised if you see them sitting in their cars at the beach crying...quickly dabbing their eyes while they feint a smile and wave when they see you walk by....they wish THEIR sand sifter was titanium...but it isn't...sniff. Darn old zinc plated steel.Ok, maybe none of that will happen. Maybe it's all just so much hyperbolic dramatization, hypothetical nonsense written for what should be an otherwise award-winning Amazon product review. But you know what WILL happen? You'll have the coolest sand sifter at the beach that day. And for some folks? Darn it, that's worth almost $200. 5 stars.
