Okay, I know these are "mall crawler" gear but, hey, what can I say, I'm into aesthetics...especially the affordable kind. And, as it turns out, I think these look pretty good. But I think looks is as far as this will go. Asthetically, I like the color and while ont a perfect match, it is close to the same blue color of the POR-15 blue brake caliper paint. The surface "pattern" is noticable but not necessarily attractive, but not unattractive either...it's just there and just enough texture to require extra effort to remove bug remains (so could've done wihtout it). The fit is good enough...I don't believe that they'll ever "fly off," at least not at the speeds this truck is capable of. But I do feel that the manufacturer could, and should, have made these another 1/2 - 3/4" longer per side for a better wrap of the towhook. Also, the thickness and durometer (hardness) of the material is a bit thin and soft. I think it would be way too easy for some mall rat to swipe these with next to zero effort, and I'm sure one day they will go MIA. But until then, I'm happy!

The guys and I affectionately refer to those red factory tow hooks as “$10k hooks”. It’s a tongue and cheek joke used only because factory red hooks usually cost an extra 10k in other premium suspension options over you’re average XLT or LT packages. Sure, anyone can go buy a set of red aftermarket hooks and slap them on, but the factory ones only come bundled with the high-end off road trim packages that increase that sticker price often 20 to 25% higher. My brother-in-law and I are both Silverado 1500 LT owners. Neither of our trucks came with factory front hooks, so when we added them later, I went with black to match my front end, and he went with chrome as his truck was white. Each looked great, but secretly we both wanted red lol. These blue plastic / rubber slip on hook protectors look fantastic in my opinion. Just like the red ones I wore previously for a while, these blue ones pop on and off in seconds, solving my insecurities. I can rock them when I’m feeling froggy or pull them off when I’m trying to look respectable. The rubber is thick enough to protect the hooks from impact chips and slide right off in a recovery situation.
