The reason for this is Tracfone Wireless, Verizon Wireless Towers Sim cards use Verizon Towers for service and Verizon is upgrading their towers for use with the newer phones.

I used this to upgrade my phone from 4 to 5 G. Didn't have to pay hundreds for a new phone or transfer all my info 🙂

I tried 2 different Tracfone SIM cards, spent a couple hours with Tracfone on the phone, and another hour on the phone with Apple. Came down to getting this SIM card, which registers as a Verizon card. Tracfone had no problems hooking me right up.I was transferring and existing phone number and account from Tracfone. Phone and texts worked fine, however data did not. Shows up is LTE or 3G depending on where I'm at.Seller does include a phone number if you have problems, would buy this card again in a heartbeat.

Be very careful in purchasing this kit. We purchased this kit after being assured by Tracfone on its website and by an email chat with their representative that an AT&T Nokia Lumia 635 is compatible with Tracfone's BYOP program . After purchasing the phone and the kit and following Tracfone's instructions we were unable to register the phone. We spent close to 4 hours on the phone with various Tracfone reps trying to register the phone, we were told the phone was compatible by one rep and by another rep that it wasn't compatible, we were then told that Tracfone's own SIM card was not in their system , in the end we just gave up as the phone could not be registered by Tracfone. It was an awful experience and a wasted afternoon. Fortunately, Amazon was great and saved the day by agreeing to a retrun of the kit and the phone .

Wanted to set up Verizon with my Moto X Pure Edition but EMEI is not valid in tracfone database. Went with AT&T instead and was simple to set up. Gave it 3 starts because I called tracfone and they told me I would be able to set up the Moto Pure with Verizon (better coverage for me) and this was a lie.
