Very handy and useful - when collapsed can easily fit in a carry-on bag or backpack, but when extended provide strong assist for walking/hiking. I've managed to loose a couple in transit, but have been quick to replace with same model.

First, I was a little worried I received a "faulty" pair like some reviewers think they had. But you just have to pull the staff out really hard to have the lock button to pop out... which makes the pole sections pull together very tight. They don't wobble and seem sturdy for being so lightweight.Haven't used them for a real hike and would still use my better ones for my local wilderness hikes. But these are specifically for traveling when I need light poles that fold down small... these were the smallest I found... so I can always have them handy in my daypack for impromptu explorations .. . I would rather have cork grips and especially padded wrist straps instead of the thin nylon, but pleased with meeting my specific needs.I am 5'7" , my partner is 6' and these are also one of the few options in folding poles that accommodate both of us.

I chose these because they fold up so small. My wife used one to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, and she reported that it did an excellent job: sturdy and comfortable the whole way. She worried that the handle might make her hand sweat or even cause a blister, but that wasn't an issue at all. I am a big guy, and I found that I needed to tighten the length adjustment lock tightly or the length would slip when i put a lot of weight on it. But the tightening mechanism was easily adjusted, and it served my 250 pounds very well. Very pleased with the purchase.

The coated wire that holds the pieces together was frayed when I received it. The pole did not feel very sturdy. With a bad knee I need something I can depend on and these were not worth the risk. After assembling one of them, I pushed down on it just to get an idea of the sturdiness and I could feel it bending. I didn’t put much pressure on itand with the flex/bend of the pole I decided it was not worth the risk.

I just finished the John Muir Trail backpacking trip (211 + miles) and these trekking poles worked flawlessly. In reading some of the negative reviews, I am sure that some customers are not familiar with how these trekking poles work.** READ THIS ** These trekking poles collapse and fold up unlike many other trekking poles. In order to assemble the trekking pole, you need to extend the pole to lock in place. There is a section of the pole connected to the handle that has a locking mechanism that engages when the pole is extended. The mechanism collapses by pressing the button down. The second important part of the trekking pole is that the pole adjusts from around 115 cm to 135 cm with a "snap" fitting. The tightness of this fitting can be adjusted by tightening the plastic nut on one side. If there is any slippage after adjusting the pole, it's likely because the nut is not sufficiently tight. Tighten the nut, and try again. One of the reasons I used this particular trekking pole on my hike is that even if the snap fitting failed catastrophically for some reason, the height of the trekking pole will be at around 115 cm.Pros* Affordable* Light* Compact - easy for travel and storage* Only one clip to adjust. Most other trekking poles require two clips for each pole* Fail safe. If snap clip fails, pole will continue to function.* Many attachments included with setCons* Prefer cork grip* Short learning curve on assemblyBottom Line: This trekking pole set is affordable and very functional. There is a short learning curve with assembly, but it's well worth it. I am very happy with this trekking pole set and attachments.

I bought these a couple months ago but just used them for the first time this morning. The top piece doesn't secure enough to stay in place. I took 2 steps and the handle went down. I continued walking and the handles continued to slip down. I did stop and try to make it tighter but it didn't work. The second piece is secure because there is a little "ball" that pops out. This company should do the same for the top piece. At the bottom there is threading which appears to be for the purpose of securing the interchangeable foot pieces. However, the foot pieces just get pushed on. I DO NOT recommend this product. I regret not trying these sooner, this poles would be returned if I could.
