I do an extensive amount of tree removal on a farm. I've used the cut stump treatment with glyphosate in the past. It's worked fairly well on many species I want to remove. Notably, it doesn't do well on osage orange, black locust, and it's not optimal on honeysuckle. There could be others, but those come to mind first.I haven't found much that this Triclophyr 4 doesn't work well on for my needs with a small caveat on one species I'll mention later. I mainly use this for basal bark treatment since it's quicker than cut stump. It's worked really well on Multiflora Rose, Russian Autumn Olive, Japanese Honeysuckle, and just about anything under 6"...perhaps larger if it doesn't have rough bark. The one caveat I mentioned is black locust. I learned to not cut black locust and treat the stump. I instead recommend doing a basal bark treatment at 25% Triclophyr to 75% diesel fuel (basal oil can be used to allow the herbicide to penetrate the bark but diesel is cheaper). Apply to the bottom 12-16" and exposed root collar, if applicable. Cutting the tree and applying to the cut stump leads to a prolific mess of root sprouts in black locust and doesn't kill the tree. I imagine sumac and persimmon would be similar if you wanted to get rid of those. Applying this herbicide using basal bark treatment has worked really well on killing the tough black locust tree as well as many others I've used it on. Hopefully this helped you figure out if this will work for your situation.

A few years ago, I cut down some Chinese Tree of Heaven saplings. What a mistake that was! Root suckers sprouted up from everywhere and the stumps turned into clusters of sprouts. Watched some videos on YouTube. Mixed 1 gallon of diesel per 1 quart of this solution. Mixed well and sprayed from 3 feet up to the ground. Within days, the small saplings wilted and within a week started turning brown. The larger trees (12"+ diameter) took longer. They still have some green leaves after 3 weeks. At 1 week in, I did the hack and squirt on the larger trees with concentrated solution. This weekend I will treat the larger trees again for good measure.UPDATE:The larger trees survived the hack and squirt method. The leaves would turn yellow, but then after a few weeks turn green. The best method is to drill a 1/2" hole at an angle into the center of the trunk. I did these holes a foot to 2 feet off the ground. Then, fill the holes up with concentrated herbicide. Within a week, they turned brown and died. Don't run out, buy the full gallon.

This stuff is STRONG. Don't use more than what is recommended by the directions. I've used this on all sorts of broad-leaf vegetation in my yards and it does work. Be patient after you apply it. It will likely be about a week before you see the weeds turn brown/yellow or begin wilting. Works well without killing the grass. Spray it very LIGHTLY on the weeds. Wait as long as you can to mow the yard after applying it. This product can't do its job if you spray it on the weed's leaves, then mow the yard thus cutting the spayed leaves off.

Used this to kill blackberry bushes when they started to come back after being cut down. Works great using a hand sprayer to drench the leaves with over 80% effectiveness after the first application...killed everything else in the garden within 20 mins.Original vendor wouldn't ship the 32oz bottle to California, but was able to get the gallon jug without issue

I saw this product recommend in a review of the Roundup spray to use on poison ivy instead, complete with instructions for residential property use, and I'm so glad! Our yard abuts aa small creek in north Texas, and when we moved in it was completely overgrown. After spending weeks clearing it out, and getting a poison ivy rash without knowing what it was, the vegetation came back with a vengeance within afew weeks, this time with an added bonus of a heavy infestationof poison ivy, which decided to infiltrate our grass where the kids play.Enter TRICLOPR 4! Man I wish we'd known about this 3 months ago! I thin I used only a few ounces in each application, with a surfactant, and within the afternoon I saw signs of sweet vegetation death! Not only the ivy, but almost all the varieties of unwanted plants, including a poisonous American poke, some vine with massive thorns, and grass and brush. It took two applications, two weeks apart, simply because there were layers of brush on top of each other, and the was one weird vinethat just seemed impenetrable, but we weren't concerned about those. Best part? It killed them so dead we just waited a month and the remnants had basically decomposed to nothing, making clean up a breeze!I balked at the price at first, scared to drop that much in case it didn't work (we're in a tight budget) , but this size for non- agricultural use will last us years and save us immeasurable time and energy.Thank you to the person who took the time to give that advice! Die, evil plants, die!
