I have so much peace of mind while my husband is out working now that he has this! It came very well packed and secured with all the pieces as they should be in pristine condition. Everything works flawlessly and it took him a little time to figure out how to put it on and use it. It is very comfortable once it is on and he can't even really notice it. Nearly everything on it is adjustable which is super nice. You can tell that this is made with higher quality materials and not cheap or easily flimsy or breakable. My husband feels a lot better being able to have this! Definitely happy with it and if you and your husband are constantly doing construction jobs up higher I definitely recommend having this for extra peace of mind! It can definitely support the weight that it says and everything is very good and reinforced. This one is a solid 10 out of 10 for sure! Worth every penny for the peace of mind that it gives! The instruction manual is easy to read as well so it makes getting everything set up and ready to use a breeze!

My husband does roof inspections in Colorado, and being that we see all of the elements, it’s nice to take safety precautions while on a roof. This item arrived tightly packed in a small box. It did NOT come wrapped in anything, just dropped inside a box lol the items seemed okay but given they can save a life, they should probably be packaged and handled better. That said, the carabiners feel sturdy and heavy. The cables retract smoothly and hold tight when pulled too fast (mimicking a fall). The item is exactly as pictured, no surprises. Haven’t used this just yet but seems sturdy and reliable based on what I’ve seen. Will update this post if anything changes with our opinion.

Wouldn't it be great if you could climb up a ladder, then secure from each shoulder to an anchor point so if the ladder fell out form under you, you could at least dangle in safety? And if you fell, there would be slack all folded up to break your fall? How about as you are climbing, are you supposed to have lanyard and hooks dangling? So I get the concept that this kit includes two retractable lanyards, two hooks, and a way to join them to grab onto a hardpoint on the back of the harness you should be wearing (you provide the harness).The difficulty is that this is a bulky setup and is a bit difficult to carry over the shoulder, the hooks still flop around if you can't find a place to hook them onto on your harness. And, in all honesty, why would you want to hook on to the front of your harness? When you reach the top you want to snap in as fast as possible, not fumble with a couple of locked-in hooks when you should be holding onto the ladder for dear life.Even with all this I hadn't soured on this retractable lanyard yet. What really got me concerned what the retraction action, and even the extension action, was not smooth and not reliable. The lanyard either would sometimes fail to deploy, and more often fail to retract - or retract until all slack was consumed. There was a lot of fiddling with the retraction mechanism and this became a distraction on its own. Top of the ladder isn't a place for distraction.Considering the cost of non-retractable lanyards of the same short length, the added cost for the retractable feature seemed very high considering that the feature was not implemented well and too often got in the way rather than helped. So if you survive your ladder climb you're left with the feeling that you paid too much for the experience.In all, I felt the retractable feature made this less functional, bulkier, heavier, and clumsier. But that's me. I hope my experience helps you with your shopping experience.

I found that this lanyard has been a dependable addition to my safety gear. The twin leg design and 6 foot length offers excellent mobility allowing me to work efficiently without feeling restricted. The retractable mechanism works smoothly preventing tangles and ensures the lanyard stays out of the way while moving around. The build quality is solid and I also appreciate the shock absorbing feature which provides extra confidence when working at heights.

The hardware that comes with this Fall Protection Retractable Lanyard is pretty heavy duty. I actually like all of that and think that part of it is great quality. The rope lanyard itself however is not the best, I’ve ever seen as far as quality. Its rope is not stiff and tends to fold over itself when retracting, which doesn’t give me much confidence honestly. I think it will do the job just fine as long as it’s not twisting in on itself when retracting.

The lanyard reel gets stuck because it goes back in sideways. I would never use this for fall protection. It also has a low weight limit.
