I have 2 dogs, so we got 2 retractable leashes (different brands so we could compare). This one is SIGNIFICANTLY nicer — like, significantly. The plastic part feels super sturdy in your hand. It sounds silly, but the plastic itself is good plastic. (Think, like, drink-cooler plastic versus cheap kid-toy plastic, if that makes sense.)The actual leash mechanism part is what sold me, though. I can legit tug on the leash as hard as I can, and it won’t budge; I have zero worries about it failing. (With the other brand I got, if you pull hard enough, you can see a slight wiggle where the leash enters the handle. It’s obvious the length-locking part isn’t as strong on that one and I don’t trust it long-term.)I’ve never used a retractable leash before, and my dogs are babies so they’re just now learning how to walk on a leash, period. The retractable leashes have made a big difference in how easy it is to walk them and how far they can go. With regular leashes, every walk felt like an obstacle course — they were constantly getting tangled in each other’s leashes AND somehow their own. This is just…easy. They stay in their own lanes; I can lock one dog to prevent a tangle before it happens, etc. The hardest part is walking with two and controlling two buttons at the same time, but that’s a “me” / coordination problem haha.Another thing I love is that it came with a little leash extender to clip onto the end of the leash in case your dog is a chewer. One of mine loves to walk himself, keeping his end of the leash in his mouth nearly the whole walk. If that ever starts to damage the lash, I absolutely love that I can just replace that little extender piece and I don’t have to worry about it damaging the actual (expensive) part of the leash. Like, the fact that the company thought of that and offered a solution up front, already free/included, is impressive.Needless to say, I’m legit a TUG convert now. I’ve already ordered a second leash as well as their magnetic harness thing (also AMAZING quality). Their products are truly well made; I want all of them! I haven’t been this impressed with a brand/product in I dunno how long.

This is a well made, serviceable, heavy duty retractable leash -- but I have a couple small quibbles with its design.The bag holder is kinda lousy, to be honest. It's just a hollowed out spot in the frame. Sure, you can tuck a couple empty bags in there, but what's holding them in place other than hope? Two average sized poop bags fit, but I have no confidence in them staying put until needed. I have a dog that doesn't empty his bowels completely at the beginning of a walk, just enough to reduce the pressure so he can get busy sniffing and exploring. He usually poops 2-3 times when we're out, so only having 2 bags on hand is optomistic.Also, who thought dog equipment in white/off white was a good idea? It's attractive while new, but I doubt it'll look good as I continue to use it.Now the positives: it's extremely sturdy and well constructed (I anticipate it lasting a long time). The spring is strong and there's no give when it's locked. The button function and placement allow for very intuitive use and it performs well. The handle is ergonomic and comfortable to use, though it's a bit heavy if you have hands that are easily tired. Pricing is average for a product of this type.

We have 3 miniature poodles, and we have a lot of different leashes. I have only recently started using the retractable leashes and I have no idea why we haven’t been using them already. I decided to try the TUG Oval 360 because it had a few different features about it. It states that it’s for dogs up to 33 lbs and it has plenty of strength for my poodles. I thought I’d like the area for poo bags, but it turns out I don’t like it as well as I thought I would. The opening is nearly as large as the inside, and I have to pull the bags off the roll to put them in there. They just don’t seem secure. Since I have a clip-on poo bag container that I just attach to my belt loop it’s just more convenient to use it. When I’m done walking, I unclip it from my belt loop and attach it to the clip on the leash until the next time I need to use it. I guess if I really needed to use the poo bag area on the leash I would, but it would have been more convenient if it could hold the whole roll of bags, and I could pull them off. All of that to say that I didn’t find that to be a wonderful feature but maybe someone else would. I didn’t dock any stars for it because it doesn’t affect my use of the leash, and they were only trying to give use of a space that otherwise would have been wasted. What I really like about this leash is the lock button. It’s different than any other that I have, and I’ve found that I like it a lot. It just has a much better feel. It’s super easy to lock, set the lock and release it. There’s just a more natural feel to it. The leash itself winds and unwinds smoothly, and I have had no trouble with it, even if I’m allowing it to rewind while my pup is pulling to one side of the other. I even really like the color. Looks nice, ergonomic feel, and 16 ft of freedom for my dogs. I’m very happy with this lease. Great space saver over traditional leashes.
