I bought this even though it was more expensive than similar products, because it claimed to be made of steel. It works fine, but basically everything other than the top shelf — the legs and the adjustment mechanism that secured them to the monitor — is made of very cheap seeming plastic. This is not going to stand the test of time. I am considering a return.

Ordered this shelf to possibly use with with 27" iMac. The shelf is made of light metal, with two hard plastic adjustable feet providing the support. Unfortunately the lip of the shelf ended up covering my computer's built-in camera! I moved it over to my TV. As others have stated, each foot adjusts individually, and getting them at the exact same angle took a few tries. Even though they have little teeth that allow for small adjustments and lock them into place, they never felt like they were quite right. The feet are hard plastic. Not that I htink it'll scratch the back of any appliance, but it feels a litlle cheap. Also, the knob that loosens or tightens the feet is just a teensy bit too big and bumps against the shelf with every turn. Not a huge issue, but it just shows that this product was thrown together without much care. Seems decent enough if you want somewhere for your soundbar / Apple TV / whatever to sit on.

This shelf was difficult to adjust. It was extremely hard to adjust the angle of the braces but once I did after several times the braces moved easily and smoothly. It was just that first few attempts that were frustrating. I don't think I have it set up the way you normally would because my TV is close to the wall this is the only way it works. Instead of the arms pointing towards the wall I have then pointing away and folded down almost flat. The front edge overhand the top of the TV a little bit it does not interfere with the screen.

This requires no assembly and just minor adjustments to use. It is a tad annoying adjusting both of them to test out the proper angle, but once you have it set you don't have to worry about it again. It holds firmly on the top of the TV and adds a nice place to put decor.

It is a nice idea to use the space above the monitor as additional space. You can use it for the mouse, router, personal items or decorative items. But it is difficult to adjust when your monitor is mounted to a corner at the wall with little space between. The wings which support the tray are hard to reach, you have to go by try and error. There should be a better solution.

I ordered this to sit my clock on top of it. Works perfectly, the lip is indeed .5 inches, which is what the frame of my Samsung tv is so it doesn't block the screen. Quality is nice, and the knobs for the support feet are keep my shelf secure against the back of my tv. I really like it. The slots in the shelf allow me to fee the cords through for a more streamlined look at the back. I like it a lot.
