I decided to replace my old Annealeez when its rubber wheel melted black sticky goo on my nice, clean rifle brass. This Ugly Annealer is a huge improvement, and it works flawlessly. First of all, there is nothing to melt. Second, it's highly and quickly adjustable to fit most rifle cartridges using only metric hex keys that are provided. There is an excellent YouTube video to walk you through the set-up. The speed rheostat, LED readout, and on/off button work great together in quickly finding the correct time setting for annealing different brass cases. It's also considerably quicker than my Annealeez was at loading and dumping the cases. I just annealed my first 150 cases and was very impressed with the machine's operation and the consistency of my annealed brass. It's a solid alternative that works great, especially considering the competitive price.

Very well built. One thing they could add is a storage compartment for the loose parts to the backside, plenty of empty space. I will be cutting a door to store the manual, extra wheel, ramp, power cord and propane can holder. I will also get a hose attachment to utilize green cans.

I have anealed about 4000 cases so far and it has worked great. From .223 to .308 I have had no issues. The amount of time saved from doing this by hand is a real time saver. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

I don’t by a lot of things and get pleasantly surprised. That is what happened here though. The packaging this thing came in was amazing. It came with tools, extra parts, an organizer for the spare parts, an extra wheel for smaller brass. A little plush baggie to keep all the extras in, good instructions, and a link to the assembly and use videos on YouTube. It took 15 minutes to set up to run my brass through. A few more minutes to figure out flame distance and speed settings. A little additional feature is that the mounting rod for the torch is metered so you can write down your distances for different size brass.I couldn’t be more happy with this unit. It runs great, is quiet, and is incredibly adjustable (yet super user friendly). I’ll be recommending this to all the guys at the sportsman’s club. Also, there is nothing “ugly” about this unit. It’s industrial looking in a very pleasing way. It’s also pretty small and has a carry handle. Super easy to pack up if you need to save bench space.

Purchased an Ugly annealer on Amazon and returned it for replacement. The replacement is much better, and I have very little discretionary things to comment on. This second machine has very few burrs. The fit and finish are very good on this second one.The first Ugly annealer fit its title perfectly. I called Ugly annealer customer service before sending the first machine back and have received sound advice.Bottom line: this machine works very well, good fit & finish, reasonable price, and great customer service.UP-DATE POSTED ON 5/5/23.Started annealing on *.308 win & 30-06 sprgfld. Did these because of the similar diameter of cases and neck size. I had one jam-up, (my fault), otherwise everything worked very well. When first using this unit, you have to locate and understand all the functions and adjustments. My advice would be to do a dry run with no flame. This builds confidence in operation.I varied the voltage, (rotation speed), between 28 - 30 volts. This speed rotated the case(s), under heat for 10 to 11.5 seconds. Using Tempilag, a temperature indicating liquid, and this speed indicated sufficient temperature, around 750 +/- degrees. The annealed case(s) ejected onto the discharge ramp and into a pail of water, this stopping the **annealing process. The annealed cases show heat dis-colorization about .250 - .375 below the shoulder. The cases necks seem pliable but still maintain tension on a bullet.* The cases used are one time fired and same head stamp from on-line vendor.** Heat can migrate to the case body, which is not desirable and can cause case failure when discharged.

I have been using this for about a year and half now. Here is what I can tell you;1) It takes a bit of tinkering when you first get it to get it set up and figuring out what speed you need to anneal at along with the preferred flame size. Its easy to do.2) Its made of stainless steel. This thing is overbuilt for its purpose. Its a little tank.3) Doesnt matter what size brass you have. It will anneal it because its completely customizable.4) All of the parts are designed to last for roughly 100,000 annealing sessions so it will likely last longer than you.5) In event something does happen, all of the parts are listed in the manual with part numbers; they are all easy to find, inexpensive, and easy to replace if needed.6) The speed dial is digital. No guess work. And its actually is pretty quiet during operation. Just turn it on and your off and running. It is self sufficient. Just make sure to keep and eye on it because you may have a piece of brass get stuck every once in a while with a funky cartridge. Not a big deal at all. Plus with an exposed flame you dont want to just walk away from it. Thats just to dangerous.7) I caught mine on sale but even at full price its easily worth it, still cheaper and better than any other annealer on the market. Buy it one time and your set for as long as your reloading life lasts.8) It has a smaller footprint than I thought. It stores easily out of the way when not in use. When in use you can put it anywhere as long as you can plug it in (and making sure the flame is pointed in a safe direction).I really think they got the name on this machine wrong. I think its a beautiful little annealer and anyone who reloads should absolutely have this piece of equipment on their shooting bench. Good luck and tight groups!
