I had mixed feelings about this item. First I bought the wrong size. Plus you have to clean the stove pretty well so the glue will stick to the rope. I found out I had to leave the bottom of the door off because the door won't shut. With the right size it will work.

This item is exactly as expected without any surprises. I received more than enough glue to do the job (about twice what was needed, which is always nice) and *just enough* of the gasket rope. One end of the gasket did not set well and so pulled away from the woodstove door after a couple weeks. Luckily, the kit comes with more glue than you need, so I reapplied glue to the loose spot and it has been holding fine ever since. I use my woodstove almost every day from fall through spring, so I expect this to last about a year or two of heavy use before needing to be replaced.

I fixed our stove door last summer with this kit and so far it's still working great. Easy to use, just had to google a video to make sure of what I was doing.

Used this kit last year and bought another this year. Best time to do this job is when the stove is cold. The instructions state to remove all old glue, apply a light coat of new glue and let dry for 10 to 15 minutes until it is tacky. This keeps the rope from falling out of the groove. I tried to do my last re-rope seal when the stove was a little warm and the glue went from wet to dry in about five minutes. I used a small wire wheel in my electric drill to remove all the old glue and re-glued. Works when done properly. There is enough glue in this kit to probably do five or more rope changes so if you want to save a little money, keep the leftover glue (sealed) and buy the rope seal in bulk from a woodstove store & forgo the entire kit. As an aside, I tried the graphite rope kit and DO NOT recommend it as the adhesive has a difficult time sticking to the rope. I bought one of those kits and after a few tries, threw it away.

Product arrived early. Nicely packaged and all items were exactly as described. Installation was easy and there was more than enough adhesive. (Have some left over ). So far the stove is perfectly sealed and works great.
