The product works but the lid was nearly impossible to remove even for my Husband. He had one of these on hand and that's what we now use :Toolwiz Strap Wrench Set, Adjustable Rubber Strap Wrench Upgrade 2pcs 24 in and 19.7 in Length Reinforced Rubber Belt, Jar Opener for Weak Hands, Pipe Wrench for Plumbers Oil Filter Wrench.Price was great but now let's see how long it last. Parts included were useless and went into his parts bin for other applications.

This canister is very hard to open for a 72 year old woman. It requires a lot of muscle to hold down the clip and try to rotate the top off. I live in Arizona, and the hard plastic inside to collect leaves, is not what I really wanted. I needed a net lining to collect the dust and small pebbles that fall into the pool. I am sure this canister is good in other regions in the country. However, it is not for Arizona, and I am returning it.

It catches debris well, but when it comes time to clean it out the lid is extremely hard to open. Ended up using a filter wrench to open and close it. The o-ring seal eventually broke after about a month. Other than that it works as expected. Minor improvements and I'd buy the new version. Extra seals should be considered.

Canister is impossible for one person to remove the lid for cleaning. There is too much friction between the locking tabs on the lid and canister body to untwist the lid to get it open with only two hands. This feature is poorly engineered and evidently was never field-tested before placing this item on the market, because if it was it would have been redesigned. Or maybe it's that way because it was made in China. Either way, I had to make a special fixture so that I could open it myself using my two feet and hands. See photo. It does catch leaves, but otherwise it's way over-priced, it's just plastic. We'll see how long it lasts in the UV/sunshine of the pool before I rate it any higher.Update-August 8, 2023: Note that when your basket eventually fails you will not be able to get a replacement for it. I was also unable to find and English language contact information available for the seller. See photo of three month old basket above.

The dirt that gets picked up by my vacuum gets lodged in the where the lid screws on and it's almost impossible to unscrew the lid. Every time I clean the filter I have to use something to hit the lid multiple times in order to free it so I can open it. You cannot open it just with your hands.

I was actually surprised at how well this canister works. I didn't think, initially, that because it didn't have a sock style filter, that it would work very well. However, I was very wrong. It catches tons of leaves and smaller debris just as well as the sock styles do. Would definitely suggest purchasing especially when you compare prices to the $70 and $90 ones.
