Both bolts in the kit bent long before the brackets clamped tight on a 1.75" tube. And being something vaguely resembling stainless steel, they seized solid. This is at a point where the clamps were so loose that you could slide 'em all over the place. I ended up replacing the bolts with poor quality grade 3 hardware I had that appeared to be 3-4 times stronger than the bolts that came in the kit. There are no lockwashers or nylock nuts in the kit, so you can expect that even if you happen to get this installed, all nuts will loosen up soon. Just plan on having some lockwashers or nylocks handy to finish the kit off. The screws for pinning the brackets to the tube are also made of the same great alloy as the bolts, so of course one of those snapped before it was tight. The clamps themselves aren't malleable enough to wrap around 1.75" tube, so instead they just dent the tube. This kit is quite honestly the worst product I have ever laid hands on. I'll make paperweights out of them shortly--- they are entirely unsuitable for the intended purpose.

I started attaching these to my gate and the first one was difficult to turn the nut onto the bolt from the start, and with great difficulty I got it about halfway on and it got stuck beyond repair. So I went to the other bracket to work on it for a while instead, and it went on easily ....at first. Got it almost all the way tight and then it stuck too. I needed to move it some and the nut WILL NOT LOOSEN no matter how hard I have tried. So, both brackets are dangling unfinished, and I am unable to get them on or off now. I read the reviews that others had this issue too with bolts bending, and that's exactly what happened to me. I am a 63 yr old woman, not all that strong! And yet, these bolts bent and now what am I going to do??? I don't know how to get them off! I guess now I also have to pay someone to come cut them off so I can finish trying to install the gate opener. I wish I'd never ordered these to begin with. And I DO NOT RECOMMEND! And that's putting it lightly. I'm so frustrated right now. I'll come back and add a photo later.

I was tightening these. Rather than squeeze the bracket around the pipe, the bolt bent on two of them. Once the bolt was bent the nut would not loosen or tighten. I had to cut them off my gate and throw them away. Bend the bracket with a pair of pliers first and don't depend on the bolt to do it.

Universal Tube Bracket Kit works good for a metal tube gate. These brackets save time in the installation process and allow you to mount the gate opener without drilling holes in the metal gate. The bad this is that the hardware (bolts/nuts) that come with the brackets are not good, two of the four stripped and I had to cut them off. My gate is 1 5/8" tube and these brackets worked. PRO TIP: Use channel lock pliers to squeeze the brackets to fit your fence while you are tightening the bolts.
