I purchased this meter to help troubleshoot an issue with a gas fireplace. Basically, the fireplace kept setting off the smoke detector after about 15 minutes of running. My client was concerned there were dangerous gasses in his living room. This meter was very well packaged - I love the carry case it comes with. It arrived fully charged and ready to use. All I had to do was turn it on outside (to calibrate in fresh air) then bring it to the fireplace. The room showed 21% oxygen and 0 ppm of all the bad gasses (CO, H2S, hydrocarbons). I confirmed no hydrocarbons with my gas detector; confirmed no CO with a CO detector - so it seems pretty accurate. The reasonable price, the ease of carrying one small unit instead of several individual ones, and the accuracy make this unit well worth the purchase.

This works fine. I don't wear it, but rather I keep it plugged in continually, and mounted on the wall to monitor air quality in a woodshop with an unvented propane heater. The display is not perfect and almost looks like an old dot-matrix type display. But once you get used to it, it is easy enough to read. However, the display is dim enough that in low light I find it helpful to put on reading glasses to see it. For the price though, it is good and tells me what I need to know about oxygen levels, carbon monoxide build up, and the potential for propane leaks.

At $18 this multi gas detector is a great deal. But there are things I don't like. The screen is blue color (please stick to BW or green, blue is just too dim.) The siren alarm is extremely annoying (please stick to beep and have adjustable volume setting.) The user interface is slightly confusing (setting high/low and password is cumbersome.) Finally, the input port (or hole) for the gas is odd. It comes with an adapter but no hoses.

This item has worked great several times. We had a CO monitor that started chirping in our camper. Turns out it was malfunctioning. When it was time for replacement this monitor was able to show that there was indeed no CO present and the other alarm was faulty. We were also able to identify a leak in our home propane tank so it could be remedied. I also use it when changing propane tanks on our grill and griddle to make sure I've hooked them up completely. It comes in a very nice metal storage case to keep the detector nice for a long time.
