Do not care for the timer, but it does have an ON/OFF switch.

Takes about 10 minutes to erase a 27C64 EPROM. Pretty well sealed up so there's not a lot of stray UV.

There is a warning in the instructions not to use it for over 15 minutes at a time. There are no vent holes for heat to dissipate so I used aluminum tape to line the inside and hopefully protect the plastic better. I will probably drill some holes and add a small cooling fan later.

I didn't expect much for the price, but so far out of 10 EPROMs, it has successfully erased one. I can't imagine that the rest are all defective or no longer able to be erased.I bit the bullet and am waiting on what seems like a better unit that I purchased via ebay for not much more money. Only 2 EPROMs at a time, but if it works, that's what matters. The bulb on this one illuminates, but just doesn't erase anything no longer how long the erase time is. Am tempted to remove the bulb and see about a replacement, but that in itself looks like its a pain with all the glue, and can't tell if there are any part numbers, etc on it.Overall, I'd tell anyone looking at one of these to save your money.

I haven't had a chance to actually erase any EPROMs yet but the light comes ON so start w/ 3 stars.I'm not impressed w/ the timer function. It seems marginal; I sent one back already for this, maybe this is the same one or maybe this is as good as it gets.

The good news is the UV tube puts out the right light wavelength to successfully erase vintage EPROM's. However, the mechanical timer is awful. It needs to be set to some point past "ON" so the UV tube power interlock switch closes, but it binds and doesn't time out as expected. (So set your own timer!) The case is thin plastic and the UV tube is glued in place. The included half page of notes indicate the "CFL lamp is easy to consume but it is replaceable." The 2 prong power plug is not polarized. The device drawer is very shallow. Very poorly packed for shipping - minimal bubble wrap inside a shipping envelope.
