I needed to replace a nearly identical foot (but broken) switch for a lamp. Unfortunately, I could not swap this new switch into my lamp cord, because the switch comes with a length of cord with the wires already soldered to the connections inside the switch. In order to use the whole cord-switch combo as is, I would have had to take apart the bottom of the lamp to replace the whole cord, and the lamp is not designed to be taken apart that way. I'm sure this is a perfectly good switch and I may have an occasion to use it for something else, but for this job I needed a switch with little screws or something inside that hold the wires in place but allow them to be removed and replaced. A photo of the interior of the switch would have made it clear that this was not what I needed.

My floor lamp had a bad foot switch. I decided I didn't really need the dimmer, and replaced it with this. I needed a cable cutter/crimper and some crimping sleeves, available at the hardware store. I like that the plug end is already wired in, so it was half as much work. It did the job, I am very happy with it.
