1.Operate at the lowest possible temperature (800°F (427°C) or lower. Operating at which is one of the major causes of detinning.

2.For tip wiping: use only (sulfur-free) pure cellulose sponges; wet to the touch.

3.Add rosin core solder of adequate diameter to the working end of the tip regularly.

so the main body of these soldering iron tips is hollow.My soldering iron was actually more broken than I thought and I replaced the whole thing, so I have no idea if these things work, but they did arrive promptly and well packaged

These chisel tips a good for splicing wire soldering repair. Always clean and tin before and after soldering. I have no problems with these tips.

What sold me on these was the fact that the tips were physically bigger, and made my new electronic soldering iron behave like a bigger unit. I would definitely suggest them!

These tips take and put out heat well. They tin and transfer solder well and are durable. A must have tip shape to have. If you only have one type of tip get this one not the pointy one that comes with most irons.

Ok. I admit. I am cruel. I overheat, neglect and abuse my tips at every opportunity. Now, I'm not saying that I enjoy torturing my tips, but I'm not not saying it.
