About this item

  • Tap & Drill Bit Set: Tap thread size: 2-56 UNC (right hand); twist drill bit size: 1.8mm (right hand). 6542 (M2) high speed steel tap and drill bit set offers excellent heat resistance and hardness for durability and longevity, and good cutting performance for clean, precise holes.
  • Wide Applications: Thread tap and drill bit kit can create new threads or re-thread damaged or jammed threads. Straight flute tap is suitable for through holes or shallow blind holes. Used for cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloy, bronze and hard plastics.
  • Features: Thread Tap: Straight flute design, clear threads and no burrs, downward chip removal, fast and precise tapping. Machine tap is used in drill presses, tapping, CNC and milling machines. Not recommended for hand use and electric drill tapping. Twist Drill Bit: Spiral flute chip space design to remove chips quickly and cleanly. Provide neat and smooth cuts.
  • Black Oxide: Black oxide coating on thread tap and drill bit set improves durability, corrosion resistance and lubricity, and helps reduce friction and heat, extending tool life. Use with tapping oil to get higher quality threads and more durable taps. Use an appropriate lubricant to reduce friction and heat build-up.
  • Tips: Drill holes with a twist drill bit first, then tap with a thread tap. The tapping angle should be 90 degrees vertical and stable. The higher the hardness, the slower the speed. Fast speed with small torque; slow speed with high torque. The tapping depth should not exceed 1.5 times the diameter of the tap.

Descriptions:
Thread tap adopts straight flute design, with clear threads and no burrs. Screw tap provides downward chip removal, fast and precise tapping, suitable for through holes or shallow blind holes. Machine tap is used in drill presses, tapping, CNC and milling machines. Not recommended for hand use and electric drill tapping.
Twist drill bit adopts a spiral flute chip space design to remove chips quickly and cleanly. Cutting edges provide neat and smooth cuts. Use an appropriate lubricant (such as cutting fluid or oil) to reduce friction and heat build-up.
6542 (M2) high speed steel tap & drill bit set offers excellent heat resistance and hardness for durability and longevity, and good cutting performance for clean, precise holes. Black oxide coating on thread tap and drill bit improves durability, corrosion resistance and lubricity, and helps reduce friction and heat, extending tool life.
Tap and drill bit set is widely for cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloy, bronze and hard plastics. Use with tapping oil to get higher quality threads and more durable taps. The force must be uniform in tapping operations.
Tips:Drill holes with a twist drill bit first, then tap with a thread tap. The tapping angle should be 90 degrees vertical and stable. The higher the hardness, the slower the speed. Fast speed with small torque; slow speed with high torque.
The tapping depth should not exceed 1.5 times the diameter of the tap (for example, the diameter M5x0.8 about 5mm, the depth should not exceed 7.5mm.)

Tapped one hole and it snapped before getting through the second one. I was after precision, so I made sure everything was moving slowly and exact. Got 3 threads in and it snapped. Not great quality. Not happy, but I guess you get what you pay for.

It's a tap and die set. What more can you say. They work as advertised for a fraction of the price of buying a brand name from a big box store. These are a great value. Just be aware of the size of these bits so that you can make sure you own a drill that can fit such small shanks. Highly recommended!
