Took all the old tubes out,...threw in the new set,...let it warm up thoroughly,...and my amp was back! 8)

I got these for my HRD212 after my old preamp tubes started to crackle. I figured I'd do a full swap. I previously had all standard groove tubes preamp and power tubes.First thing I noticed was the drag in the power tubes had tightened up. The improved response was noticeable and appreciated. Great improvement having a matched pair.As for the preamp tubes, I had lost a lot of warmth and bottom, but on my drive channel especially. It by no means sounded terrible, the mids pop out a bit more, but I really, really love the low, smooth growl my amp makes and it nearly disappeared.This was however, a problem easily fixed. I just swapped out the JJs for a GT 12AX7-C in the V1 slot and it all came back. The thick, low end with tight response. I kept the other JJs in V2 and V3. And now I have a spare!I'd definitely recommend the set. They make my HRD sound tighter and brighter. It was a bit too bright in the mid/highs for my liking, but not terrible. Perhaps "transparent" is a better word to describe it. And if you have other tubes it's easy to hear the difference for yourself by swapping them out in V1. I'll probably get another set.
