My brother in law talked me into trying lump charcoal. Unfortunately, the original Webber equipment charcoal grate lets a lot of it fall to the bottom. And, when I close the vents to suffocate the coals so I can use them again, the remaining chunks get stuck in the grate.So, I cut a circle of this 1/2" SS mesh and laid it over the grate. It works GREAT!Notes:The 15.5" widths fits a 18" Webber grill. Not the big ones.I had to look up the difference between great and grate.

See sample in photos for the material that I received, if you're interested in exact measurements. All intersections are welded. Scale is in mm, orthographic view. Good stuff. Wire diameter seems to be about 1.04mm by caliper measurement , and the opening about 11.5mm minimum, L x W is just slightly uneven.

The mesh is good quality, but the peice is way to high for what you get. Ordered for a trap I was building, the roll was too small to finish it, sourced more mesh locally and paid half the price for twice as much.

We are able to cut and use pieces for the inside of bird breeder boot boxed for the birds to climb down. We do not have to worry about the mesh poisoning the birds. Great to find another product for our breeder box "business"/really it is only a hobby but fun!
