This hammer is nothing like the old Vaughn hammers. It's long and unbalanced. The head weight seems excessive. Plus it causes cancer. WTF That's what the sticker says. For this price it's going back and I'll just deal with the tendenitas in my elbow when I retire.

was looking for a 2lb hammer with a polished smooth face on both the peen and flat face for pounding out gold ingots. although this one is has an octagon shape leading to the face, where the polished face is, is a smooth round circle so that's good. but.... a few notes regarding materials. the face seems to have a coating of some kind to create a 'polished' finish. I can tell because there are miniature bubbles on the surface. plus, the visual of texture beneath the coating is the metal grain, which I know wouldn't feel like this. and the hammer I got from Germany has the exact same visual grain but not the coating 'feel' or 'look'also, there's a warning sticker on mine "P65" from California cancer exposure prop. I wonder if its the fiberglass handle, the blue paint or the metal?? not sure if im returning or not yet......but good price and feel in general

Bought this for my husband (in the HVAC field) and he's already gotten a lot of use out of it and loves the hammer. It looked a different from the picture, but it did have the fiberglass handle (was a must for him) and was a tinning hammer. Due to this, I wasn't really worried about how it looked, as long as it got the job done.

Great hammer, I work in a sheet metal shop and bang together a lot of duct work. This hammer has performed wonderfully so far. The handle is extremely comfortable and many of my coworkers are jealous.The quality of the head seems to be very good. The only imperfections I have noticed after multiple misfires and impacts with concrete floors is he blue coating has rubbed off a bit. Overall I am very pleased with this hammer.
