This was truly disappointing as a training kit. The reason to train is because real life is more difficult than classroom learning. Nobody told the manufacturers of this training kit that, however, because the faux veins on this product are the largest, most protruding, easiest veins that could possibly exist and are unlikely to ever present in the wild. If everyone had veins this palpable and visible to the naked eye there would be no need for training or practice because any dummy could do it. I was hoping this would be a kit to practice a more difficult and realistic situation. I must admit that they did not promise that in the advertisement, however, and it certainly comes with all of the promised pieces and is the product depicted in the advertisement photos. I just did not find it very useful for increasing skill level.

This is an IV insertion training kit to practice for students. It is as described and has no funny smells to it. It is practical for the classroom or home practice and refreshing skills.

As a nursing student I couldn’t help myself from getting this. I had to. I really felt like I could use the extra practice. It’s a nice little practice kit and came with some clamps and a syringe. Not exactly an IV catheter, but I suppose it still does help being able to practice this skill at all. Kinda lame it only comes with one syringe, but I guess it’s okay since it’s meant to just be reused. I do want to try it with an actual IV catheter, but I’m not sure if it’ll work with it. I think this is pretty cool. The skin was also soft and does feel a little realistic and there are also 3D veins that you can palpate.

This IV practice pad was eye-opening for a first-timer like me. I was nervous at first and messed up a few attempts, but after some practice, I consistently hit the tube accurately. The texture is very flesh-like, adding to the realism, and the tubes vary slightly in depth. It doesn’t come with instructions, but watching a few YouTube videos helped. Filling a syringe with water worked perfectly for practice. Overall, it’s a great tool for building confidence in IV skills.
