I use this to extend a computer monitor into another room about 100 feet away. It solves the distance problem easily and the video quality is good.It requires a dedicated point to point Cat5 or Cat6 cable - it is not designed to run on a LAN, but that's no problem at all, I just ran the cable over the drop ceiling tiles and I had everything working in 30 minutes.

I'm able to have my network rack in another room, with my KVM. Then I use as usb extender via ethernet and this VGA extender over ethernet, this allows me not to have to keep running back into my room where the rack is and I can do things from my office. Yes servers do have remote ability with things like iDrac, but this allows me faster access and for the items like NAS that don't have remote ability to do it from the office.Now the method I'm doing, yes I need to use two ethernet cables (one only for this device), but it's worth it for me. Makes it easier to work without the hastles.This did what I needed to with very simple hook up.
