The projector is quite bright! with natural light from the window, I can watch movie with high quality picture. It has good flexibility in terms of distance to the screen.Absolutely good value for money.

I use this for slides - not movies. This replaced a good projector that wasn't quite bright enough for a large classroom. It's bright enough, especially in its price range, and it's almost silent. It also has almost no warmup time - probably because it's laser versus bulb. It does not get very hot. It doesn't auto focus but the focus adjustment is easy and the zoom has a pretty good range. It can be set for front or rear and table or ceiling projection.

I bought this projector for my office conference room because it is seemingly an entry level (and more affordable) laser projector. Unlike traditional lamp projector, laser projector like this needs lesser maintenance (can run up to 30,000 hours), quieter, lesser overheating problem and fast bootup time.ViewSonic LS740HD scores well in a few areas such as affordability, brightness, resolutions (up to HD), quietness and fast bootup speed. It can also support large screen projection while still maintaining its sharpness and brightness.However I am a bit disappointed with the throw length as unlike my previous projector, we need to move it backwards quite a bit to get the same equivalent screen size. The speaker quality is quite poor. The many complaints about the orange screen flash can't be help whenever there is a momentarily loss of data for whatever reasons (eg connection).As for the seller (bizgram), they delivered quicker than expected in the original box. No major defect or damage detected. Good job.

This should be a 5 star projector but here is why I give 4 star review.The LS740HD has a glitch that causes it to randomly flash orange. This would happen several times a day. I called Viewsonic support and got through immediately with no wait.They suggested I return the unit. They gave me the option to exchange with them or with Amazon.I chose to return with Amazon, and I purchased a new one. The new one does the same thing but not as often. I have changed HDMI cables and power sources. All drivers are updated on PC’s connecting to projector and it still does this. I have 2 other projectors that do not do this using the same setup.The problem is not bad enough to return the second projector.The projector is small, quiet (on Eco or =It looks like my refund will take about a month. That is a long time to have $1200 dollars tied up.

This is sold as a conference, large room projector, that should be super bright. For the price tag, I rolled the dice and replaced my original Optoma Dlp/bulb home Theater projector and hoped for the best.Excellent decision for me. There may be some Home Theater idealists that would challenge the color rendering, but it super, again for the price point.Pros: Laser, Quiet, Doesn't get hot, SUPER bright, I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey in the middle of the day... it was perfect. Lots of tweakable settings: Manual AND digital zoom, digital keystone correction, pre settings: Living Room, Cinema, Presentation, etc.Cons: no lens shift, go to projector central and use the "Throw Distance Calculator", it's designed to be stationary once in place, the power cord, is a "Laptop" style, wall plug goes into power brick, power brick proprietary cable connection to projector.The Cons would never stop me from purchasing again, I can detect no coloring problems in the renderings, I am running a 25' hdmi cable, no jumping or dropped frames.Excellent entry level home theater projector.

I was trying to buy a projector that had great image and under 1k. I am happy with my choose, this projector has great image and it is really bright. During the day I don’t have to close my windows because the brightness can handle it.

I bought this for my golf simulator and also use it for movies and sports. For the golf simulator it looks great lights on or off. For movies and sports I typically turn the lights off and it looks phenomenal

Very pleased so far. Installation was simple. Projects very large image. The manual zoom did not reduce the image enough to fit our screen. Fortunately there is an electronic zoom in the settings that reduced the image to fit. The keystone settings worked very well. There are other, typical projector settings to refine things further. The picture is very sharp, clear and bright. And NO bulb to overheat and burn out. All of that was what I wanted. For a laser projector, the price was very good as well.
