Been watching YouTube reviews on this lens and finally decided to pull the trigger and it was the best thing! I’m new to photography and I paired it with the Sony a6700. This lens is very sharp even cropped in. If you’re in the fence like I was, you can go ahead and get it.

I’ve this lens for almost a year now and let me tell you it’s 100% worth the investment. It’s really sharp and clean looking. I love it so much. It’s my favorite lens I own and it’s the only lens I use. I’ve put it on my camera lens and have not taken it off since. It’s a high quality lens for both video and photo. Sometimes it’s hard to nail focus and sometimes the chrome abration shows. But it’s not that noticeable. Worth the inclement!

This lenses have latest technology with Bluetooth firmware update. No Lock switch for Aperture ring. You can easily turn it when holding camera or lenses. The latest firmware 1.1.5 is very glitches. The aperture control ring A sometimes got stuck at F22. Also, I need to remove the battery because the camera doesn’t accept shutter release command and even tried on and off switch. This lenses need to shoot high ISO and it more likes F2 or above lenses.

I was a little skeptical with 3rd party lenses but decided to try this one out, as I needed a lens that could give me more light on my APSC camera. This is by far my favorited prime lens that I've used. Depending on what you need, I use it to film videos and this lens was able to give me very beautiful bokeh. The autofocus works very well when paired with my camera and creates a buttery smooth authentic background blur that makes my object in focus a lot more separation from its surrounding. The aperture ring on the lens is also very helpful if you want to change the f stop quickly, offering a noticeable click at each stop. Considering its price, this lens can definitely imitate what a full frame camera can do at a fraction of the cost of a full frame lens. It's a must buy for anyone that wants an APSC prime lens!

Let me start by saying that I love the image quality of this lens. But after trying it out over a weekend trip, I decided to return it. I usually use a SIgma 18-50mm 2.8 lens on my A6400. The heaviest lens I have used was the Sigma 16mm 1.4. I switched to the Sony 15mm 1.4 because of the size and weight. I thought I could handle the Viltrox but it is a beast. That is why I would never go to full-frame. If you are not use to heavy lens, look elsewhere. lol

I love this lens, and its little brother the 27mm f/1.2. This 75mm is a perfect lens for portrait work, taking indoor candid shots of people, or as a small telephoto for landscape. The buttery smooth bokeh that this lens can achieve is to die for and the colors that I get is also awesome. I use it on both my Sony A6700 & A6600. Highly, highly recommend.

Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Lens Compatible with Sony E-Mount Mirrorless Cameras a7 a7II a7III a7R a7RII a7RIII a7RIV a7S a7SII a9 a7CThis lens packs INCREDIBLE value with low cost. It is built like a TANK, extremely solid piece of gear. Rear lens has some weather sealing rubber ring and Viltrox says "dust proofing" design -- i assume this means some weather sealing (moisture as well as dust).-The lens takes 77mm filter size and a lens hood. 77mm is a great standard size -- i'm glad its not 82mm.-The lens has a tiny color LCD display which is really slick. Shows aperture, focal discance, AF a+b preset display and AF/MF mode display.-It has a build in function switch that does two things: F1 does focus lock and F2 does MF A-B focus preset (you program in two focal distances and you can rack focus this way , in MF mode of course). On Sony body you can change the function of focuslock button so F1 doesnt need to be "focus lock" . I programmed it to recall custom setting (instant rapid fire, centerlock af, continual focus setting).-There is a VERY SMOOTH MF ring -- MF/AF switch to activate. MF ring isnt fulltime though. You have to be in MF. OR you can program F1 to be MF/AF switch for really fast change? I dont mind using AF/MF switch.-Aperture ring is really cool too. At any time, you can adjust aperture with the ring and it reflects in camera display. The ring can be analog or "clicked" with a switch. I prefer analog mode so the aperture ring is smooth as opposed to notched. I often find myself accidentally bumping that dial and making it F22 but its pretty obvious when that happens. Too bad u cant lock this.-Motor is dead silent and FAST. Cant hear it at all in normal ambient settings (unless you are intently focusing on hearing it)-AF acquisition even in low light is fast and accurate. I'm really really impressed.-F1.8 is SHAAAAAARP VERY usable photos even with the vignetting that exists -- that can be fixed post. Of course f/2.8 ++ is sharper but the fact that f/1.8 has usable sharpness, is incredibly valuable when you are taking some artistic wide shots with bokeh. I think f/5.6 is clinically sharp on corners and center. There are TONNES of image samples on the net, so i didnt feel like i needed to provide it here. Please search that.-Lens has a usbc behind the lens. This is a clever design that doesnt need a "lens mount" accessory to update firmware. At the time of this review, there is no update for this lens as is so i havent tried it. Since this is a third party lens, you cannot microadjust this in body. I'm not certain if there is any usb connected software to do this either. Tamron lenses can be microadjusted via lens adapter and tamron software -- also MF ring sensitivity can be adjusted on tamron lenses. There is no software from Viltrox to adjust MF ring sensitivity and af microadjustment that i know of. So make sure your copy of the lens is PERFECT with respect to back or front focusing. Mine is fantastic and does not need any adjustment-By the way you can download adobe camera raw lens profile for this lens to correct CA and distortion easier. This lens is pretty much perfect for me. Price is half that of sony and sigma make a fantastic 14mm lens with same 1.8 wide aperture but.... biggest factor that determine your choice: at more than double cost , is it worth that extra 2mm? thats your call but for me, i dont really make money from shooting anymore, so the budget price tag is VERY welcomed especially because this is an f/1.8 ultrawide lens which will offer a lot more creative looks over a similarly priced f/4 lens.A side note here: I own Viltrox 85 f.18 lens as well. I found Viltox to update and fix third-party compatibility issues VERY QUICK. They have a very good track record fixing issues. During their initial launch of 85mm on sony FE mount, there was some lockup issues but they fixed everything. It's pretty good service from that point of view.Hope this helps!

I bought this lens shortly before visiting a flower festival, so I had a good opportunity to use this lens with my Sony A6500. The picture quality is pretty good. I also took various pictures of objects in my room ranging from f/1.2 to f/10. This gives you an idea of what the bokeh looks like at f/1.2 as well as what the theoretical max image quality looks like at f/10 and ISO 100. Premium feeling lens with an option to adjust the aperture on the lens instead of only the camera. A minimum focusing distance of 11 in (28cm) lets you get fairly close to objects, but it is NOT a macro lens.My main gripe with the lens is the auto focus. I understand that the lens is big and bulky. That's to be expected for f/1.2 and having premium construction. However, with the size and weight compromise, you should expect better performance. The image quality may be nice, but the auto focus hunts often even in well to moderately lit locations. I didn't bother to test in dark areas because the auto focus is already struggling with sufficient light. YouTube videos mentioned the focus hunting happening often when shooting videos, but I also see it happening for pictures.I'm kind of tempted to return this lens, but I'm holding out hope that Viltrox improves the auto focus in a future firmware update. To understand where I'm coming from, I already have quite a few lenses for my A6500. The Sony 11mm f/1.8 has by far the best auto focus that I've used. I would give it a 10/10 since I haven't used anything better. Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 would be a 9/10. Sigma 18-50mm would be 8/10. This Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 would be 7/10. As a bulky prime lens, I think this lens should be at least on par with the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 (a zoom lens with better minimum focusing distance). If you need good auto focus, this lens isn’t for you. If you’re ok with dealing with occasional focus hunting or shoot mainly manual, this lens might be worth considering. Look at the pictures I attached and decide for yourself.

From the all-metal build quality, thorough weather sealing, and clarity of glass, this lens is professional quality for half the price of native lenses. Lightning fast auto-focus, amazing exceptional photo clarity, and the 27mm (40mm equivalent for my APSC camera) this is the perfect companion for my Sony a6700.

I can't say I have another wide angle to compare this to (because I don't) but I can say I am pretty pleased with the results. Interesting POV with this lens and pretty sharp. Vignetting seems to be gone by 2.8 so still pretty fast if that is a factor in your photography. When zooming you don't start to lose detail until you zoom to about 400%. Good purchase (still need to put it through its paces with astrophotography).

Very happy with this lens. On A7RIII this lens is sharp even at f1.8, and it is even better stopped down.Build quality is very good, AF is silent, not to mention it is very small and light lens if you consider that is large aperture UWA lens for full frame camera. No complaints at all, great value for money.
