About this item

  • Supports resolutions up to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz)
  • Fully HDMI 2.0 compatible
  • Connect your mDP device to an HDMI display, TV or projector. (Not reversible, only supports mDP to HDMI)
  • Active chipset for expanded capability
  • Supports AMD Eyefinity multi-display capability
  • No O/S driver required
  • Plug ‘n play with no power input requirement

The VisionTek mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter features a mini DP male connector on one end and an HDMI female connector on the other. An HDMI cable (sold separately) is required for this mDP to HDMI adapter. The adapter allows you to connect any mini DisplayPort-equipped laptop, including the Mac® family of products, to a standard HDMI connection such as an HDTV, monitor, or projector. Unlike passive adapters, this mDP to HDMI converter offers an active chipset for compatibility with any Mini DisplayPort output - ideal for graphics cards and devices that do not support outputting multi-mode DP++ signals (e.g. AMD Eyefinity).

Meant to be used with [VisionTek Radeon 7750 2GB GDDR5 6 4k Monitor Graphics Card, 6 Mini DisplayPorts] video card (and other uses I'm sure). Works great right out of the box.

I'm typing this review at the monitor's full native resolution (2560 x 1440 60 Hz). Perhaps I was just lucky, but the monitor was recognized right away and works perfectly - no flickering or screen artifacts as reported in some other reviews. The adapter isn't exactly cheap, but it's pretty much your only option if, like me, you have one of those Korean monitors with only DL DVI-D inputs. I just hope it lasts... I'd already used a similar adapter (from another brand) that stopped working after a couple of years, so I replaced it with this one.

Bought to drive one of those Korean 27" monitors 2560x1440 that require DVI-D.Connected it to dell WD15 and it worked albeit only with one of my three cables that claim to be DVI-D and that worked with stationary computer.

It's about 3 months since I've purchased this, and now the cable has quit working. Ihave to unplug it, and change ports, and when I do, it'll work for oh, maybe acouple hours or so, and then it'll go out again. Useless now, I'll have to get another one.

After acquiring VisionTek 4 monitors card, I ran into a bump. I had an active HDMI cord but when I hooked it to the card, it was not even recognizing it. I had a chat with tech support from VisionTek, I was informed that they sell their own active HDMI. The rest was easy, hooked it, it detected the TV and now I can use it fine now.

There's a bug that I and others have experienced, where a Dell UltraSharp monitor, hooked up to a Mac directly via DisplayPort, prevents the Mac from sleeping properly. Using this adaptor instead of a direct connection fixes the issue! (At least with my late '14 Mac Mini, and Dell U2717D.)EDIT: Hmm, nevermind. Adaptor still works fine, but the benefit I thought I saw regarding the sleep issue seems to have been imaginary / transient.

THIS IS NOT DUAL-LINK! Why advertise this item as Dual-Link if it is not? I tested both adapters I bought and neither worked. I plugged in the Apple Dual-Link Adapter to the same system and cables and it worked instantely. I tried 1920x1080@120, 3840x1080@60, 3840x1200@60, 2560x1600@60, even 1920x1200@60 did work. All worked on the Apple adapter and none worked with these adapters. What a joke!

Anyone who claims that this doesn't support 2560x1440 is probably not using a dual-link DVI cable or they are trying it with a device that doesn't support it, or they received a defective adapter and should get a replacement.I am using this with a 27" Monoprice IPS at 2560x1440 at 60Hz and an Asus ROG gaming laptop with a GTX 860M.Looks fantastic and pushes the full resolution of my monitor, I wiggled the cables around on both ends and didn't see any connection issues.

This product is the only one I have found that will allow my AMD Brix Gaming PC (GB-BXA8G-8890) to output 4K @ 30 Hz. I tried the passive Belkin cable and adapter, and neither of them worked for me.The only problem I have had with it is getting the audio to work correctly. It may be a simple setting that I'm missing, but I haven't figured it out yet. Whenever I connect the adapter and plug it into my TV, Windows gives a message that I need to have a secondary connection for Audio output. If I can figure out how to get audio with only this adapter and HDMI cable, I will definitely give this 5 stars.**Update**Audio is now working over mini-displayport+HDMI with a newly released GPU driver update.**Update 2**Audio stopped working again over mini-displayport+HDMI...
