These compact linear grow lights by Vivosun are unusually flexible in their installation. They may be the right choice for hobbyists like me looking to dip their toes into indoor gardening.I've long enjoyed successful outdoor gardens, but I've been thinking lately that it would be nice to have basil year-round for cooking. These linear lights by Vivolight offer hobbyists like me some interesting possibilities. The lights are only 2 feet long, meaning that they will fit in some spaces that other lights won't. Basil is a bit touchy when it comes to temperature. It wants to be warm. The best way to assure that is to improvise a greenhouse. These grow lights are short enough that it would be possible to make a greenhouse using a large translucent storage container. The lidded container will help retain warmth.I like how these lights make it easy to add additional lighting capacity. At the end of each light is a port for a cord. If you want to "daisy chain" more lights onto your setup, you can just add on as necessary. The package includes what you need to mount the lights in one of three ways: hung with cable ties, attached with screws, or stuck with two-side adhesive tape. I plan to install these on wire storage shelves in my basement, with seedlings in trays below. With a little imagination, you can figure out an installation that works for your space.

I garden in pots, grow bags, and raised beds, and only for my personal use. A few tomatoes, several peppers, some cukes, some peas in the spring, some spinach and lettuce in the summer, and some basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary in an herb bed. I wanted some grow lights so I could set up my seed trays in the work room downstairs, and these worked great. I attached two to the underside of the cabinet over my bench. then left the other two loose to use or not use as needed, set up a little stand for some seed tray cells under the cabinet lights, seeded them, and turned them on before I left for work and off last thing before I went to bed. I had tomatoes sprouted in 8 days, peppers in 2 weeks, and started some cells of flowers and the herbs under the two free rods that I rigged up on boxes. I'm very pleased so far with this 4-pack.
