My John Deere LX172, was not charging the battery. Had to put the battery on the charger frequently, before mowing. After a little troubleshooting with a volt meter, I found the voltage regulator was burned out, and the plug fried. The new regulator came with a new plug, so both issues were covered. 14.2 volts charging now. All is good.

Works so far on my Kawi Mule 550. We'll see for how long. This is my 3rd one but I can't say which brands they all were or exactly how long they lasted. I feel like the last one got me 3-4 years and might have only burned out because of corroded wire connections.

The one on my lx178 melted a wire and I replaced it with this ,The BEST thing about this buy was they send you the replacement plug housing,connector housing and I went on line and they wanted to stiff me $45 just for the connector,highway robbery so this buy was so much better than I could have hoped for,Very happy with my purchase

The jury is still out. This is the second one of these we have purchased for our LX176. The first one lasted 6 months before it stopped charging the battery again. If this one only lasts six months, we will have to change brands and maybe even hope that springing for full price JD parts nets better results.

I decided to give this a shot on a Honda GX 390 since the connector is the same and the pin out is the same. It's a rectifier/regulator nothing specific about it. $10 less than the OEM clone for the Honda, can't complain. Works well, made me happy.Note: while the connector and pin out is the same the physical dimensions of the unit are different. If you need the bolt holes to line up exactly you'll have to go with an OEM clone.
