works great. it tests on both low and high voltages.and it show the current temperature.take the guess work out of all the electric work around the house, especially my old one that hard to figure out which GFCI control which outlets.

I have been using the yellow brand forever and they are getting so expensive. Thought I would give this one a shot and love it! Quality seems to be great and it really works well. I would definitley purchase again.

I looked at one of these a few years back and it was over a hundred dollars. Now I see this one on Amazon for only thirteen dollars... a no brainer - I got it.I am a landlord who fixes things myself... everything. So when a tenant called and left a voicemail that the electrical outlet wasn't working. She didn't say where...her bedroom? Kitchen? Laundry? Where!So I had to take my test meter and insert the probes into each socket until I found the dead one. (In the living room with two adapters plugged in with six cords plugged into those ! Opening the outlet, the wires had burned.The point is it took me over an hour to check outlets with my voltmeter when I could have checked them in minutes with this a/c voltage detector. You just need to tap the outlet and if it's working a light comes on to tell you. I don't understand exactly how it works in theory, I just need it to work - and it does very well.Now, when working on the outside air conditioning unit, I can test to see where there is power and where it stops. It will even help me to find a break in a wire that can't be seen. This tester is great.If you are a DIY type of person, this is a must.By the way if you are wondering, she got charged... that was no accident.

The tester worked well and was perfect to replace an aging one. It is sensitive and I found I often didn't even have to touch the wire or outlet before the detector went off. The light is handy too if you drop a screw or such.
