Great for Sony a6700 w/16-50mm lens. Has just the right tension on tilt for a6700. Easy to tilt and pan with smooth action. Nice 12 inch long handle for plenty of control. Excellent build quality.

This head is well made and works very smoothly in all directions. It is a pleasure to use with both my medium weight spotting scope an 600mm lens and camera. The fixed spring counterbalance is about right for the spotting scope but after adding some additional friction with the tilt locking knob, it also works well with the considerably heavier camera. The only thing I don't like about it is that the arca plate is narrower than the plates I have from other products. I particular, my K&F FH-01 tripod head can't be adjusted enough to fully secure it.

For something as inexpensive as this, we figured we were taking a risk, but hey you can ship it back if you don't like it right? But this thing impressed with its build quality and smooth operation. There was an ever so slight roughness in the panning when done by hand, but with a camera / lens mounted it was very smooth. Much better than what we had been using. The resistance for our use is just perfect, we are not mounting a big 600mm lens on it, just a 100-500 on a mirrorless, and it is great for that.

Is this Manfrotto level? No. But if you're using this for stationary or light motion, the fluid head is very helpful. I would by more of these.

I'm using this on a Vortex spotting scope. It works well. It's smooth on both the vertical and horizontal adjustments. The build quality is decent. I contacted their customer service for purchase of additional quick release plates and they were prompt and followed through. My only complaint is the quick release plates are proprietary and must be purchase from them. The plates are slightly different than the Acra Swiss standard. No big deal. The plates are reasonably priced by Leifrotto.

With cameras shrinking and lens getting lighter, there would be more interest in heads for Arca-plate video use. I've tried a lot of heads, Arca and Manfrotto QR plate styles, and while the latter has some very nice heads mostly for heaver video cameras, the Arca group is often relegated to still cameras or telescopes, which have different needs than a camera operating in video mode. Mostly I want good smooth pans and tilts in a variety of speeds and adjustable counter balance. This unit while offering neither speeds or variable balance, does offer a workable single counter balance on tilt, and workable drags and viscose fluid pans. The arm while under weight and stiffness is long enough for reasonable control. This is a serious entry level Arca-plate video head and at $40 it is a good deal. The single balance spring works for loads of up to 6 pounds. The fluid pan has a little bit of back-lash, some of which can be over come by holding the position for a few seconds. The fixed drag in the pan and tilt and similar, which is good and make control easier. The pan and tilt locks can be applied smoothly and hold firm if desired. I'm going to use this with a Sony Full Frame A7 style camera with a pretty large lens. I might by another Leifrotto VS05K head if it holds up in the field.
