I recently bought an old bike so I could bop around town with my son and needed a rear rack for a child carrier. I tried a couple other racks before this one that I could not make work on my bike’s frame. I was quite excited when this rack finally fit and was relatively easy to install.Overall it seems like a sturdy rack and it works great with the child seat I purchased. I just bought another old bike for my husband to join us on our rides and plan to purchase this rack again.

I liked this one because it’s chrome. I mounted it on my Kent cruiser from the big box store. It comes with the mounting bracket, but I ordered an extra based on the suggestion from Amazon. I’m glad I did! I ended up changing the angles on the second bracket to attach to the rack itself. I used the original bracket to attach to my bike, then attached the two together. It doesn’t come with instructions, but is pretty straight forward with some imagination and modifications. I love the way it looks, seems stable (I’ll update if I have issues when I actually use it for cargo), and doesn’t impede any functions of the bike. Overall, it was a bit of a headache, but a decent buy.

Fits great, screws were a hair short but was able to make them fit, just had to squeeze the fender brackets to get they first thread but overall it’s very sturdy and a great addition

I bought this rack because it looked nice on my vintage 1979 road bike. At first it seemed great, but after a couple of weeks of light use I noticed a rattling noise coming from the rack. Upon inspection I found that a weld had broken just from the motion of riding the bike. The only way I could figure to fix the weld was to glue it together with some JB Weld, but I am not sure if it will hold up. It seems that the WALD Co. doesn't really check for the quality of their racks, so I will never buy, or recommend their products ever again.

Bought this one because it was the only chrome one I could find. Looks excellent and is well built. Unfortunately it was not a straight forward install on a modern Kent cruiser from the big box store. I figured I would be able to attach to the same bolt holding the rear side-pull style brake to the frame. The bolt was not long enough and the angle and distances were also unworkable no matter how I reformed the mounting hardware. I ended up purchasing an led light bar mount meant for a rack on a 4 wheeler. I used it to clamp around the seat post giving me a spot to connect the front of the bike rack to the bike.It does look visually very nice but it will be a issue if she ever wants to move her seat up and down. If I was to do it again I would purchase one of the less expensive universal black racks and connect it to the quick release clamp for the seat. That would allow for the seat to move and been easier and less expensive. That being said, she's super happy with it.

This rack is brilliant. It's solid steel, made in Kentucky. Unlike the fancy imported racks that are mostly made of hollow aluminum tubing, and sometimes made of tubular steel, this Wald rack is solid and can be bent without kinking and crushing the tube. With the hollow aluminum racks, the rack pretty much must fit the bike the way it's provided. That used to be a pretty straightforward thing, since bikes and racks were standardized. But since we've gone from 5-speed freewheels, to 6-speed, 7-speed, 8-speed, 9-speed, 10-speed, 11-speed and sometimes with disc brakes and other times without, sometimes with inch or inch and a quarter tires, but often with 45mm or 50mm or even "fat" tires bikes, the rear-end of bicycles no longer have any kind of standards -- or you could say they have 178 different "standards."Want a rack that fits? Get this one and bend it to fit. I tried 7 other racks, including so-called "disc" racks, from Topeak, Bontrager, Tubus, Ortleib, Blackburn, and more... that did not fit a 2019 Cannondale, two of which Cannondale claimed could fit "with modifications." This Wald fit perfectly with two careful bends using a wide bench vise with wood jaws.I bought a second Wald, because this rack fits my 80's Schwinn without any bending. I would just use this for any bicycle and avoid buying those $150 racks that don't even fit.

The thing is built like a tank. It looks spindly compared to other racks, but it's made out of solid steel wire and is very substantial. The construction is very similar to commercial-grade wire shelving. The welds look deceptively small, but the wire is arc-melted together with no filler. There is a lot of surface area in the joined areas. It's not just bomb proof. It would survive a nuclear attack. Nothing less then a grinder would put a dent in it.This is easily the most robust bicycle rack I have ever used. Two major downsides:1. It's heavy.2. It is designed for more traditional basic bicycles with 26 tires. It's going to require some modification to the mounts to fit on a lot of bikes. I would not buy it if you are not comfortable with the idea that you may have to make your own metal tabs using a file and drill to make sure it's solidly mounted to your bicycle. The upside to the weight and lack of adjustability is that it's very solid and once attached well it becomes a structural part of your bicycle.Don't buy this if you want something light weight. Don't buy it if you want something that will work with zero effort unless you have a traditional style bike. Get it because you want to have something that is affordable and is built to last.
