It's such a small part but can cause a big problem with water retention in the salt tank. I'll probably replace it regularly, perhaps every six months, very easy to do. Although material doesn't look like the OEM, it works fine.

Whirlpool water softener salt tank unexpectedly filled with scummy water. Youtube suggested replacement of this gasket could be the issue. Pumped out scummy water, cleaned interiour of salt tank, replaced this gasket and all is now well with my water.

This fixed our softener from having too much water in the salt bin. Only took a couple of minutes to install. Our unit works perfectly now!
