ANATOMY OF A PELICAN STORM CASE

The Pelican Storm Case

You have equipment to protect, and a Pelican Storm Case is the best way to do it. Why? It's all about the resin. But the real proof is in the bragging rights that come with survival. Because to a Pelican Storm Case, whether falling from the helicopter, crashing down class V rapids or taking a hit in the center lane of the New Jersey turnpike is all in a day's work.

Lightweight and rugged, the Pelican Storm Case is the result of years of perfecting and testing in both the laboratory and the field. From the proprietary HPX plastic resin that is tough during low-temperature impact testing, to the patented Press and Pull latch that opens easily, every facet of these lightweight cases has been created to defend your vital gear.

The Pelican Storm Case has been designed to meet or exceed military testing requirements. Many are airline size appropriate, and all are internationally shippable.

Storm Case Features

Molded In Lockable Hasps

Twin mating hasp holes on the rim of the case allow attachment of padlocks to keep your gear in and thieves out. And check out Pelican's TSA approved cable padlock. Now you can check your baggage with confidence while flying in the USA. The Travel Security Agency has the key, and you have the combination.

Press and Pull Latches

These smooth-opening, dependable, patented latches hold tight under pressure and impact despite fast-opening performance. Tested to over 400 pounds, yet open with a simple release button.

Rugged In-Line Wheels

Shielded from dust, dirt and other contaminants - ball bearing wheels provide low-friction, low-drag rolling with retractable handles for easy movement of heavy loads.

Resilient HPX

Lightweight, durable, impact resistant HPX shell.

Double-Layer, Soft-Grip Handles

When the weather goes south you'll find a secure grip that won't slip. An in-tool vulcanizing process over-molds the grips to the polymer handle for a lifetime of dependable performance.

Vortex Pressure Release Valve

The built-in technology of Pelican Storm Cases automatic pressure equalization valve is also a patented feature. Air travel prevents vacuum lock to make opening the case natural even after extreme altitude changes. At the same time, the microscopic filter blocks water molecules and dust particles so your gear stays clean in the Gobi and dry on the Nile.

Rounded Deflective Corners

The corners of a Pelican Storm Case deflect and absorb impact, dispensing kinetic energy throughout the case to ensure contents remain safe drop after drop.

Great quality, as always with Pelican.

The first thing I did was to put a clean dry towel inside the case and submerge in in a wheel barrow for 2 days. The water was about 4 inches above the top of the case. The towel was completely dry when I opened the case. This is good enough for my purposes since I am not a scuba diver taking it to depths. The case is well built and opens and closes easily. The handle is a little hard to move into the carrying position but is sturdy. I carried 15 pounds in it without a problem.

Great case but both sides of the case are bulged out, so when the case is open, it wobbles because it does not sit flat on its four corner side legs.

Por el precio fue excelente, solo que el terminado ayuda a que se marque rapido , pero no deja de proteger, que es la función principal

You pay for quality but it's sturdy and can be bit heavy for normal everyday carrying. But if you plan to ship or check your laptop with checked baggage, you can't go wrong. This case easily fit a 15.6 inch screen laptop and the side pocket (though no custom foam padding) works well for smaller AC adapters but prepare to swivel and turn trying to get the bigger adapters in here.

I love the case, it's amazingly sturdy(as expected though) nice looks and great grip in the handlebar... but the are two things that I didn't like at all:- The organizer compartment is really flozy, it's near impossible to keep thing tied up together, it almost drop down by it self!- It's incredibly heavy! obviously, this might be normal because of the hardness of the case.If you're looking for protection at high rate, water tight tech and plenty of room for a laptop plus accessories, this is your choice for sure!

I have 3 Pelican 1490 cases (). I've been using them for gear and as a computer case - daily - for years. I work in harsh industrial enviroments and have traveled the world with my 1490 cases. It's hard to find a bad thing to say about them.It was time for a new computer case so of course I looked at Pelican. Since the last time I looked for a new case Pelican had purchased Hardigg. Hardigg was a competitor to Pelican with a lot of overlap in the product lines. As far as I can tell Pelican is continuing the Hardigg Storm case line. This case (iM2370) is very close to the Pelican 1490. It is thicker and just a little wider. I don't have a scale precise enough to tell a difference in weight - there is not a noticeable difference to my shoulder. One thing I like about this case over the 1490 is the latches. They are much more secure and hold the lid more firmly closed. The 1490 case latches have some "spring" to them that does not let them latch as firmly. The iM2370 latches are a harder plastic and have a nice double action required to open them. The interior is very similar. I'm not sure if the interior parts are a carry-over from Hardigg, or a redesign by Pelican. I sort of like the lid organizer in the 1490 better, but it may be that I just got use to it. The accordion section in the iM2370 is too expandable which makes it floppy. It can actually flop over enough to interfere with the lid seal. So far the lid organizer is staying attached nicely. That was a slight problem on the 1490 cases. If you can justify the cost, this case will last a long long time and will protect your important contents.

I bought this for a small laptop. Main reason is because when I travel it is in the back of my unsecured pickup. No rain water or dust (I have driven on dirt roads very extensivly) and could not see any evidence that anything leaked inside the case. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the lid organisor is useless because it always falls down (weak glue I guess) and also because of the price. Also, this is a very rough looking case and might not be appropiate in a business setting... when I brought it to work the first time co-workers thought that it was a weapons case lol.Also... you can search youtube for torture tests on storm cases... quite impressive.

I ordered this case with high expectations and was pleasantly surprised by some features that weren't listed above, Like the Grid System for personalized smaller items and cords under the laptop and the New Velcro system on top instead of glue.
